Gender roles, performance, and inequality is not just something that goes on only in America. “It’s Your Fault” is a satire on rape in India where we see that women are blamed for their own rape. The video shows the patriarchy in other countries that we can also relate to issues in our own government.

In this song, Beyoncé explores how different life is for girls and boys. She discusses the double standard that exists, and how it is okay for boys to do whatever they want, but if it were a woman who did that she would be looked at differently. Beyoncé sings about how men cheat but women are expected to be faithful.

In this series of novels, Michel Foucault proves his disagreement with the claim that sex has been repressed in society. Instead of the suppression in society, Foucault focuses on the perceived relationship sex has with both power and knowledge. He argues that while society believes sexuality is a part of human essence, it is really a social construct to control the masses.

The article focuses on a survey administered to students of a metropolitan university in the southeastern United States regarding female and male gender roles and attributes. Students were asked to self- and peer-rate the roles and attributes that were assumed to be gender neutral. The study asked and answered three questions regarding gender stereotyping, and how likely their peers are to gender stereotype.

The changes in masculinity relate to not only the division of labor, but also the new work-home balance that may be difficult for some men to adjust to. Stearns’ book indicates that masculinity and gender roles are always evolving.
