The first case of HIV was reported in a man in 1959 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. How did it spread you may ask? Kinshasa is full of different ways to be transported for example, rivers, roads, and trains, so the virus had ways to spread. Eventually spreading itself to the United States. that “By 1980, half of all infections in DR Congo were in locations outside of the Kinshasa area, reflecting the growing epidemic.”
