A Man and his Best Friend

When times are tough, days are long, and life is dragging, I can always count on him. He always greets me with open arms and shows me that better days are ahead. He always makes me laugh, smile, think, and even cry. I remember spending days and nights with him sharing ice cream, eating leftovers, or even just a drink. He never judged me for eating that third ice cream or being in my pjs all day. I would hang with him for hours and hours and yet it felt like time was flying by.

From when I was in highschool to when I started working, I was always looking forward to getting home and seeing him. He would join me when I had dinner, had friends over, or even when I would simply fall asleep.

He watched me grow from being in diapers to bringing girls home. He watched me go from a juice box to a beer, from chicken nuggets to sushi, and even from baby cheeks to a razor. Throughout my lifetime, he has been one of the few constant variables in my life.

As time went on and life got busy, I unfortunately didn’t get to hang out with him as much. We used to love going on daily adventures together into the unknown. I remember all of my first experiences. He got to witness some of my first laughs, shrieks, and cries. He has helped me grow as a person both socially and academically in every which way. He knows no boundaries and no limits for me, yet all he knows is how to be there for me.

People that visit tend to play with him, but me and him both know that we are always there for each other. If he is ever hurt or not feeling good, I try to make things better. Spending hours upon hours researching and trying to figure out his pains from google or just intuition. We even have brought in professionals to keep him healthy and a part of our family.

I am using this blog to thank him for all he has done for me and that I hope he can be part of my life for a long time. People call it a distraction or even a waste of time, but to me he is an escape from real life, a place to smile, a place to learn, and a place to relax. He is with me always and everywhere and I try to always make some time for him throughout my week. He has helped me grow in every which way and even walked me through my awkward phases in life.

Thank you for everything! I remember sitting in front of you back when you were just a box tv and I had to get up every time to change the channel. I remember watching spongebob in my diapers to now watching seinfeld on Hulu, and to this day there is nothing that brings me as much comfort and relaxation as my tv.
