Our modern ideas of love align with Platonic ideas of it. The original concept of Plato’s idea of love is between an older man and a younger man, but it was then interpreted by society as soul love. Either way, our modern ideas of love is similar to Platonic. Compare to others back in times, there are more people look forward finding a soulmate. Also, there are more open homosexual being accepted. I believe Plato’s conception of love influenced ours. Some people disagree with his ideas, but there are still a lot of people who refer their love style to Plato’s. Referring to Plato’s concept of love, we should find someone who can see through your appearance and find a great personality that attracts you. One who can bring significant influence to us, as we can both become a better one.

I agrees with you. Back in the day people are more open mind and they did not discriminate. People can love whoever they want and people accept who you are. Our modern ideas love today people are not as open mind as the people back in the day. People will judge each other due to who they love. I also believe Plato conception of love influenced ours by made us understand love is equal and admiration.
I agree with you that Plato believes that the highest state of love is the pursuit of goodness, which is essentially the pursuit of spiritual love. Physical communication is not to say that it is at all forbidden, it is only to say that this is a kind of transcendence of the flesh and transcendence of the original desire. This fact more suitable kind of love is in line with modern love. Then, this kind of union is to pursue what they lack. There is no difference between same-sex and heterosexual love.
