Choose one of the following texts and write an essay to satisfy this prompt:
- For this assignment, perform a close reading of Lydia Davis’s short short story or Sor Juana’s sonnet 152. Analyze the passage to show how it connects to some aspect of our course. While your argument and evidence should focus on and be derived from Davis’s or Sor Juana’s text, you may take our other course readings and classroom discussions into consideration.
Be sure to organize your essay with a strong major claim (thesis) statement. Support your argument with direct citations from the text and detailed explanations about their importance to your argument. Since your citations will only come from Davis’s or Juana’s texts, you do not need to worry about documenting your citations with MLA style for this assignment.
