Question – Many readers throughout history have commented on the awkwardness and dissatisfying nature of the ending of The Aeneid. Did you find it this way? Why or why not?
Answer- The ending of The Aeneid can be viewed as one of the biggest disappointment of Epic genre. Virgil almost approached a satisfying ending, however, the sudden death of Turnus in the end leads to a major ambiguity. In my opinion his death was an unnecessary act that changed a lot about the text. I also found it very awkward and dissatisfying which encouraged me to read the ending multiple times. However, I also believe that if its ending was just a normal happy ending, it would not have had such great impact on literature up until today.
