1. Although Gregor is isolated by his family and eventually dies, he, ultimately, goes through an internal transformation as he gains his freedom individual at the end of his metamorphosis.

2. In Kafka’s “Metamorphosis”, Gregor Samsa goes through a series of isolation as he is alienated from his family, work and even himself during his metamorphic stages.

3. Gregor Samsa, who is solely seen as the financial supporter by his family, is neglected by each of his family members, one by one, as he progresses through each stage of his metamorphosis.

    Very nice Rose!
I think your first and third statements are your most effective, as they imply an exploration into Gregor’s journey. The first points to an (somewhat ironically) happy ending for Gregor, when, in death, in finds freedom. The third seems to follow the degeneration of the relationship between Gregor and his family. If you choose the third option, it might be a more focused essay, if you discuss only one family member (the sister would certainly give you a good deal to discuss, but the father would work, too).

    10/10

I think your first thesis statement will have the most support since you’re talking about his internal problems through his own metamorphosis. The connection between his self interest and how his family views him can help you define his isolation being a positive or negative impact. In the end, it’s best to know how you feel about yourself instead of listening to other people’s judgements. Just like Gregor, he was finally able to live the way he wanted in the end without needing to worry about the things that used to bother him.
