Hello! Your thesis statements are both very well written. A quick grammar mistake i noticed on the second one appears after “…Box in Anger” to argue. You forgot to include what it uses to argue that point. You can say “Feng Menglong *uses his* vernacular story of, “Du Tenth Sinks the Jewel Box in Anger” to argue of the declining influence of Confucianism on the lives of people during changing times in china. I look forward to seeing how you would expand on your thesis statements and tie in Confucian values.

Both thesis statements are interesting (yes there is grammar issue in the second) but very broad. You need to decide what you mean by Confucian values and modern values. When you decide what aspect of both of these ideas you want to focus on, then I think you’ll have a solid thesis.
