Final Project

Thesis statement: Through the metamorphosis of Gregor, the tragic hero model was showcased when his life had taken a sudden turn and resulted in the distaste from his family and increased burden but also a decreased of a reason for Gregor all together.

I felt that this image illustrated my interpretation concisely as there is a shadow underneath him which represented what his life used to be. According to Aristotle, they would be born in noble birth but in this novel, he was the provider of his family. The door would represent the distant that was created between him and his family but also the mistakes he had done (such as frighten the tenants as his curiosity was outside of the room).  The bare and empty room would describe the solitude that would drive him into his death.

    Michael,
Yes, I think this image works, and you’ve already started to mention the points of the “journey” that you will label on the image. I think, too, as you discussed in class, that Aristotle’s model works well with Kafka’s narrative.
Look again at your language, though, before you post this on your final essay, though, as there are a few grammatical erros.

i really like your idea of relating this specific picture to the story. however, i just think the picture is not able to reflect his misfortune that is created because of him, and by his relatives. especially his sister who is gradually taking over his position in the family. one major charactor in aristotle’s tragic hero’s theory is the misfortune between closed relatives. that’s why we see most of his tragedy is about family. but i still like the idea you had.
