1.The Journey to Enlightenment is present in the life of the Sensuous Women. Does the Narrator reach Nirvana? Use the idea of enlightenment, emptiness, and/or karma to defend your answer.

2.Gregor from The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka has a tragic flaw. According to Aristotle’s idea of The Tragic Hero, What is Gregors downfall? Do you believe he responsible for his downfall or is his downfall a triggered by another character in the story?

Both questions Katarina have given are very detailed. I think the first question is better because is very straight and to the point with what she is asking. The examples of enlightenment, emptiness, and/or karma correlate directly with her beginning question. Which is why I think the first question is better than the second. Although the second question is also to the point. The only problem I see is that what if you do not believe Gregor to have a tragic flaw and don’t think he is the idea of a tragic hero. Other than that I think both questions are though-out and can be used as a final thesis question.

The first question can make good essay for the sensuous being that there were many time in which Saikaku eluded to Buddhism. One of course being the temple but the most important and the one you should look at is the 500 Buddah statues part towards the end.
