Confucius

There is an overwhelming sense of wisdom in the teachings of Confucius. This makes it both interesting and easy to read the passages. The master takes some of the most sensible morals and breaks them down in a way that makes the reader analyze the way in which they are living their life. “Nowadays people think they are dutiful sons when they feed their parents. Yet they also feed their dogs and horses. Unless there is respect where is the difference (2.7)?” There is profound truth in the words of Confucius. When looking at our world today we can question why there isn’t more of a focus on respecting our elders. Growing up, our parents where our authority figures yet as we grow there are often times in which we stray from the authority figures in our lives, in search of our own path. Though we are grown, the respect and love of a child should stay intact. Our parents gave us life, raised us, hopefully to the best of their abilities, while they provided food, shelter, education and love. For a child to loose sight of the privileges that where provided to them from their parents they are not treating their elders with respect and in fact they are almost diminishing their worth. In Confucius writings there are many life lessons that we need to focus on to live fulfilling lives.
