The road not taken

I would like to center my paper around the famous poem by Robert Frost titled, “The Road Not Taken.” This poem is a very powerful one which has immense meaning. It could be interpreted many different ways to mean many different things. The  obvious theme present in this literary work is the idea of choices. Choices are known to be life-changing. The path which you take, or the choices which you make, can alter your life and send it on a different track than the one it was on before. However, the theme I would like to explore is regret. This idea can be applied to the poem in a direct way. Time is linked to regret in that it only travels forward, whereas regrets are linked to the past. It is wasteful to spend your time regretting your decisions when there is nothing you can do about it. The “road not taken,” in this case, is the action that could have prevented many mistakes in one’s past. This is the action that one wishes they would have made in the past, but a contrary decision has forced them down another path in life. Every person has went through this, and everyone has decisions that they regret. Everyone thinks about how things could have been easier or better if they had made a different choice. Down the path, however, it is wrong to dwell on the past because there is no time machine that makes it possible for us to go back in time and do things differently. Because time only moves in the positive direction, decisions should be treated in the same manner. If there is something that you think you should have done differently, it is much better to move ahead and think of new decisions that you could make to better your situation. For this reason, I believe that “The Road Not Taken” is a perfect example for the central idea of my paper.

I would like my video to be a short silent film lasting between 3-5 mins. It will tell a story of 3 people taking 3 different roads. It will also show where the roads have took them and the problems they faced.
