In my Digital essay I’m trying to emphasize that maintaining the innocence of a child can be a good thing. Collins tries to argue that maintaining this innocence can actually lead to their ignorance. My counter argument is of course places like the Bronx. The Bronx is full of kids which one may say have been deprived of their innocence, and as a result these kids would go out into the streets thinking they’re tough, wanting to fight and call other kids names that are not appropriate for little kids. Maintaining their innocence may to some extent lead to their ignorance but it can make ones childhood real, and special. Wanting to change your childhood right away deprives anyone of all the opportunities and freedom children have.
In my Video I started out with enforcing how beautiful it is to maintain the innocence of a kid. I played a song which emphasizes fun times especially within a kid’s life. I later on go in to the poem and reinforce some ways in which the History teacher emphasizes the maintenance of their innocence. Finally I show what it would be like to deprive these fun happy times for children, what it would be like if that childhood wasn’t as special or real.
