Temporary workaround for Faculty & Staff access to Blogs@Baruch during the week of December 16, 2024:
For Faculty and Staff, we have a temporary workaround to access and use your Blogs@Baruch site while the Baruch servers are down.
NOTE: This is only for Faculty and Staff accounts.
Students, if you need login access, please have your professor follow step one and get in contact with us on behalf of your whole course site.
Step 1: Contact us
Email Blogs@Baruch Manager Christopher Silsby at: [email protected] from your Baruch email address (for authentication purposes, you must use your Baruch email). In this email include:
- your CUNY Login username (your first and last name separated by a period, with the last two digits of your EMPLID at the end of your last name, e.g. first.last##)
- the URL for the site(s) you need access to this week
- DO NOT send any password
Step 2: Confirmation
We will email you back letting you know you can log in to Blogs@Baruch with your CUNY Login credentials. Follow the link from the main Blogs@Baruch page at https://blogs.baruch.cuny.edu/. Then click the link that says “Login with CUNY Login.”
After you login, you will find your CUNY Login-enabled sites under “My Sites”
Thank you for your patience; as this is not an automatic process, it will take our team time to manually check each activation.
Step 3: Check Visibility
In order for students to view your site while the Baruch servers are down, you will need to check the visibility of your site. To do so go to Dashboard > Settings > Reading > Under “Site Visibility” select either “Allow search engines to index this site” OR “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.” This step is necessary because students won’t be able to log in to your site(s) while the Baruch server is down.

Optional – For Students To Be Able to Comment
In order for students to leave comments on your posts, check that Comments do not require students to be logged in. To do so go to Dashboard > Settings > Discussions > Under “Other comment settings,” uncheck “Users must be registered and logged in to comment.”

Your students will now be able to view the site and optionally leave comments, though students will not be able to create posts (since students are not able to log in as Authors while the Baruch servers are down).
Make sure you email the specific URL of your site(s) to your students. They will need the address to find your site.
Please note
This is only for Faculty and Staff accounts at this time and will be in effect only during the time the Baruch is down; once the server is back up, please use your usual process of logging in with your Baruch username and password (the same one you use to access the network on campus).
