This image was captured on June 3, 2010 on the shores of East Grand Terre Island near the coast of Louisiana. It is a seabird covered in Oil.You can see more of our wild life and the destruction of our ecosystem at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/03/gulf-oil-spill-photos-ani_n_560813.htmlhttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/
This mistake will cost mankind it’s ecosystem, the longer this spill is not contain the more these animals and our ecosystem will suffer. What affects one part of the world will eventually affect us all.
I am extremely shocked to see that this can happen to us in this day and age. I am perplexed by the fact that BP does not have a plan B. Companies should have a business continuity disaster recovery plan. Nothing is perfect or lasts forever; therefore, things break and that’s why we should always be prepared for handle complex situations.
In response to Yukari, I understand what your saying, but these huge companies dont really care about anything but the bottom line and that is profit. And if that mean killing our environment then so be it that is how they it, our government doesnt care because if they did the actions would have spoken louder then words. Just as Alfaro said we have the technology to complete not depend on fossil fuel. In Brazil every single car runs on ethnaol even the bus, truck you name it it’s on ethnaol, how is it that we are a world power and dont have that technology or the vehicles to faciliate that. Again MONEY….. PROFIT….. Hopefully we as a planet can get over this.
In my home country, Ecuador, in which the economy depends mostly on crude, the government proposed a revolutionary idea to avoid the contamination of the environment by keeping the crude underground. We now have the technology to no longer depend on fossil fuels but the oil companies prefer to continue to profit and influence politics rather than to be more responsible with the protection of the environment.
It is so frustrating and sad that BP or anyone can’t find a better and a faster solution to stop spilling of oil.
It is scary that many companies in many industries are not prepared for this kind of event.
This is a very sad picture!!!
Indeed our environment is being destroyed daily. If only Human Beings can start being more responsible and try to avoid pollution and enforce recyling, we can have a better environment.
Highlights the need for proper regulations on various industries!
It is a warning from the environment!!! Humans should respond more for their acts!
it’s horrible. I feel so sad. I wish we would be much more concern about our environment.
