The fall of the Berlin wall happened in 1989, it represented the beginning of the end of communism and the Soviet Union. It also signaled the end of the Cold War, which the US and USSR were both building an arsenal of nuclear weapons that could have destroyed the entire world.

Barack Obama

On January 20, 2009, Barack Hussein Obama became the 44th President of the United States of America. It is an important event in history because he is also the first African American President of the US. He represents change to not only myself but everyone who believed in him and his message. I believe Obama is just what this nation needed in times of struggle, change and hope.

Obama’s Inauguration

This picture was taken from the Washington Post. It shows President Barak Obama being inaugurated as the 44th president of  The United States. It took place on January 20, 2009, adn to his left is his wife Michelle Obama.

This is an important picture since it depicts a milestone in the US’s political and racial history. From a country that discriminated no less than 50 years ago today we have a minority as our president. An achievement every country should strive for.
