9/11 Lighting Ceremony
Since, the 9/11 attack in 2001, New York City has commemorated the victims, firemen and police officers who past away during the onset. The tribute lights are lite on September 11 every year since 2002, which was set to continue to 2008, however, in 2009 it has been comfirmed that the lighting ceremony has been extended through the tenth anniversary in 2011.
The image is important because it reminds us of the attack that occurred in 2001 and the obstacle we have overcome. It displays the strength of everyone cooperating together and helping each other in a time of need.
