NASA spacecraft lands on Mars (1997)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuGFx7m5XNc
I found this video on www.youtube.com. It was an original BBC news cast. NASA sent this spacecraft to Mars in order to search for life (water). The mission carried a series of scientific devices to analyze the Martian atmosphere, climate, and the composition of its rocks and soil. One of the scientific purposes of the mission was to examine whether Mars could once have supported microbial life forms. The mission was successful and an amazing discovery. Knowing that other planets besides Earth can sustain life is very encouraging for our future.
