White chocolate and Mascarpone Berry Tarts

Ingredients

Loaf of bread

Unsalted butter, soften

Granulated sugar

Custard, homemade preferably

Pint of ice cream

Honey

Fruit of your choice

Nuts, optional

Powdered sugar, optional

Directions

 

 

  • Heat oven to 360 degrees F
  • Cut loaf of bread in half
  • Gently cut the soft center bread out, leaving enough on the sides to provide a strong base.
  • Take the soft center piece and cut it into 2 or 4 symmetrical pieces (depending on the shape and size of bread loaf)
  • Spread butter on all pieces, including the insides of the hollowed out base
  • Place all the bread on a cookie sheet or oven safe dish and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Be sure to watch the bread as it starts to brown so it does not burn.
  • Remove from oven drizzle desired amount of honey inside the base and on the sides. Gently place the loose pieces of bread back inside, being careful not to burn yourself.
  • Drizzle more honey on top of the bread pieces
  • Top with 1-2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  • Serve immediately while still warm
