I’m Gabriel Ramos and I did enjoy ENG 2100 because I like writing. I just wish that I was a better note-taker, because for every class, we (the students) were assigned something to read and I just read it and just hope to remember what I read, but it doesn’t always work because sometimes the readings are long. Luckily, lectures would be about the reading(s) in question and perhaps then I could get more of a grip on it. Sometimes, there would be assignments based on the readings, which allow me to revisit, or really it would be a visit since I did not always need to read ahead of time. I hope to be able to expand on my vocabulary so that I can figuratively and perhaps literally sound more sophisticated. Hopefully, I could also learn to use new words correctly and I would also hope that people know those words and would be able to understand me. Something I have been struggling with is with is run-on sentences, meaning that sometimes, I would not know when to stop a sentence. I hope to learn how to avoid those. I would also like to be able to use semicolons appropriately or the symbol “–” and maybe, some sentences would not look like run-ons if I learn to use those. There are probably other grammatical challenges I have and while I do already know it fairly enough, I want to know more if there is more to know and to perfect it. I hope to come out of this class as a more professional writer so that what I say or write can be taken more seriously.
