Still a Firebrand, 2,000 Years Later- ‘Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth’

ZealotIn this article written by Dale B. Martin, he explains how the writings of Jesus’ life are still just as significant today as they were years ago. Martin also emphasizes the importance of the perspective in the book. Jesus is not seen as a religious figure, but a historical revolutionary who was guided by John the Baptist.

The author of Zealot: The Life and Time of Jesus of Nazareth, Reza Aslan is well educated in theology and international sociology which gives him the backing to write a in depth analysis and depiction of Jesus’ time. Aslan is a creative writing professor at the moment; however his writing create a plausible story of Jesus’ life and why his role in history was imperative not only to the Christian, but also to the ones that heard of Jesus of Nazareth.

This is important because from the begin of ballet it has only been white dancers seen on stage. The first dancer of color to be a soloist at the American Ballet Theater was Misty Copeland. She is a strong supporter of this program.

She’s 16, but Not Thinking of Sweet

Posted in Uncategorized, Comments Off on She’s 16, but Not Thinking of Sweet

This article is about a new up and coming singer who is only 16 years old, Ella Yelich-O’ConnorIt

It is very possible that she could be the first person to shift how we think of teenage pop. She is a young star that sings about the things she is going through in the present moment. Not the relationship she is imagining years down the line or the family she will have but what is affecting her now.

The article points out that she is does not take the popular route of singing about love or break ups which is the easiest way to sell records. Ella tries to write about her experiences and her friends thoughts and give a voice to all of the crazy complex thoughts that teens her age think but do not know how to express.
