My name is Garrett Zablocki and I am a 26 year old student at Baruch. I’ve spent the last decade or so, playing guitar, writing and recording records, and touring the world in a band that I started in high school. The band is called Senses Fail; the band is still somewhat active, despite my departure in December 2010.
I was the main songwriter for Senses Fail and continue to write and release music independently through various mediums. Some of my music comes in the form of an instrumental project called Stereo Stargazer. It’s a solo project. I record and write all of the instrumentation, mix, and master all of the audio in my apartment in the UES. I score independent films as well–if my free time allows for it. The last film I did was a documentary called Common Ground.
The RIAA–along with the record labels–have cannibalized the music industry. Not illegal downloading (although it accounts for 20% of loss in overall revenue)! I could give a week-long lecture on all of that, but I will just say that it is the reason I eventually left.
I am now pursuing a degree in finance and enjoy the change of life.
