Hello class, my name is Wanying Wu. If my Chinese name is too hard to pronounce, you can call me Iris. I am a sophomore at Baruch and my intended major is finance. I like math and science because it doesn’t take me a long time to finish my math homework. While for liberal art subjects such as English, it takes me forever. I like biology because I want to know more about our bodies. I want to know how the body works and what kind of nutrition we need. My favorite classes so far are economics and biology. Although in biology, we have lab and we need to dissect a pig, I still enjoy learning how the human body functions. For example, I learned how our kidney works and I learned why people have diarrhea and constipation. I used to panic when I hear the word “Psychology,” but I found out that it is actually a quite interesting field since I have taken PSY 1001. I wish my passion for this never runs out.
I have never had a job, probably because I look too young. People always thought I am 15 or 16 years old. Actually, I do not want a job until junior year in college because I want to be more engaged in school work. I want to be focused and get a decent GPA. I only have 3 or 4 more years in school, while the rest of my life will contribute to my work. My memory will become worse as I age, thus I think I should learn the most in these years. Currently, I am one of Hong Kong Club’s staffs. Hong Kong Club is an amazing place to make new friends and relax. Anyone who is interested in Hong Kong culture and food should join our family!
Lastly, I want to post some of the pictures I took. I am fond of photography and music. A couple of years ago, one of my dream jobs was to be a piano teacher. I don’t have piano class anymore because college is busy, but I still practice when I have free time.
