What’s up classmates. My name is Lizeth, my friends call me Liz. I’m 24yrs old and this is my 3rd semester here at Baruch. My major is Corporate Communications with a minor in Black & Hispanic Studies, I graduated from CUNY NYCCT (City Tech) in 2009 with a AAS in Marketing Management.
Born in Queens, New York. But what I call home is Panamá! I’ve spent all my childhood summers in Panamá with my family. I’m referring to Panama City, Panamá and not Panama City, Florida. Yeah, people get that wrong all the time. Both my parents are born Panamanians, came to this country in the mid/late 70’s. And they have gone far for what they have now.
I love to Travel! I’ve been to Belize, the Grand Turks, the Bahamas, Canada, and many parts of the U.S. I want to continue to traveling because I love exploring and learning new cultures. My reasons behind exploring and learning new cultures is because on my dad’s side, my grandfather was born in Barbados and my grandmother was born in Saint Lucia. Similar but totally different from Panamá. I guess my grandparents is the reason as to why I have a passion to travel and explore new and exciting things the world has to offer.
When I’m not in Baruch or traveling, I spend time with my family. I’m very family oriented. I also enjoy partying with my friends, I love shopping- ZARA is my go to place!, watching movies- Twilight!, and learning about sports cars- my favorite right now would be the LEXUS LFA. I love driving, trucks and sports cars- I current drive a Ford Escape 08′, can’t wait to road-trip with my friends! I grew up a tom-boy, wore baggy clothes, played basketball, roller-bladed, stake-boarded (I have stories for every scar on my body do to me being a reckless child in playing sports) but as soon as I hit High School, things took a change, I still have the first pair of skinny jeans I bought back in the days which I cherish for memories, those Jeans were a start to a new chapter in my life. I used to hate pink, now!, its one of my favorite colors. I still have my sweatpants and Jordan days. My guy friends tease me and say I traded my Jordan’s for a pair of heels. Its funny to hear that because I’m still a tom-boy at heart. I haven’t played basketball since sophomore year of High School, but I’m not new to the game, once I step foot in a basketball court, it all comes back like it never left.
I’m simple, I hate drama, I’m fun to be around, I love walking the streets of New York City, getting lost on the subway (when I’m not in a rush to get to my destination that is!) And eatting at new restaurants.
I look forward to learning about psychology this semester. I thought it would be boring, but to my surprise its actually interesting.
So there it goes, a little bit of me.
See you guys next class,
L.
