How does the parent’s occupation affect the choice of our future profession?

I propose experimental type of design. I would use survey to conduct my experiment. The questionnaires may include questions on the advantages and disadvantages of the occupation choice based on the parents’ example.  I would ask the people how successful they are at carrying out their job responsibilities. Does the job fulfill their expectations? Do they regret about their choice?

I propose to choose the alumni of our College for this experiment. The students who are making a decision about their future career may benefit from that. They will have the information how people are satisfied with their choices based on parents’ example.

Hypothesis: The majority of students make the decision regarding the future occupation based on their parent’s example.

In this experiment, independent variable is parents’ occupation and dependent variable is your own choice of profession.

One of the challenges of the design would be to figure out why students change the decision regarding the future occupation during the learning process.
