Yoga

I. I chose yoga as a guided meditation

II. A. This has been a very stressful semester, especially lately. Before going to yoga I felt stressed and frustrated that I was going to yoga when there is so much to do, when there is always so much to do.

B.  O n a scale of 1 to 10, I would say my overall level of anxiety was a 6.

C.  On a scale of 1 to 10, before yoga my level of physical tension in my body was an 8, especially on my lower back.

III. A. After yoga I was exhausted, definitely more relaxed and less stressed

B.  On a scale of 1 to 10, after yoga my level of anxiety was at a 4

C.  On a scale of 1 to 10, after yoga my level of physical tension in my body was a 5, I especially feel it in my arms and legs.

IV. I chose to go to yoga with a friend that’s been begging me to go with her for a while now. Yoga takes a lot of focus and I was grateful because I definitely needed an hour away from my life. My body was definitely feeling the burn but it was a good burn. I felt great after the session. This was my first time ever attempting yoga and it was definitely hardcore. I was very frustrated trying to perfect poses that everyone but me seemed to be doing with ease. I quickly let go of my frustration and kept telling myself this was my first time and to enjoy it. I would definitely go to yoga again because even though I wasn’t good at it, it was a great distraction.

Hey everyone!

My name is Elsie. I’m a sophomore, my intended major is International Business. I am an Orientation Leader at Baruch College, which is part of T.E.A.M. Baruch. I will also begin working at the SACC center this semester. I live on Long Island but I’m living in Brooklyn this year because I got a RA job at a student housing facility. I was born in New Jersey but my parents are from the Dominican Republic. I have a passion for different languages and cultures. I participated in a summer home immersion program in Sicily, Italy for 5 weeks in the summer of 2009. I hope to work abroad this summer with AIESEC and travel as much as I can throughout my life.

"Our memories have build the person we are today, regardless off its nature. I wouldn't choose to not remember any of my memories either because every memory is worth remembering. If we were longtime friends and you didn't remember a natural feeling would be deep sadness. Friends share some of the greatest memories and what makes them so great are the bond created by those memories. In a tragic situation like this, when that bond is broken it hurts. As a friend my role in reconstructing your memory would be helping you remember the moments we've shared. Show you pictures, tell you stories, take you to our favorite places. I would be the one to reintroduce you to your social life. Recovering your memory after such a tragedy would be very difficult and a process but by living your previous life, things will come back."

"I like this question because it's a question I had to ask myself for awhile before and after deciding to attend Baruch. As someone who decided to dorm, my hypothesis would have to be that without the stress of an hour+ commuter, students are more likely to succeed in school. You have a good idea for an experiment but it could be a lot more developed. There are a lot of drawbacks to this question because, like you said, there are a lot of outside influences on a student besides their commute to school. The next step after your study is conducted and presented to the public is to revisit the analytical stage and continue building on others' reaction to your experiment. If I were conducting this experiment I would chose participants with similar lifestyles and allow both groups same amount of time to study. A Follow Up study could be, how damaging is dorm life on a college student?"

"Very deep...I liked this a lot. And TOTALLY consider working at SACC, it seems great so far and looks great on a resume."
