Noooo. Cell phones don’t kill……….. YES THEY DO !!!!!!!!!

Who would have ever imagined what technology could do for us. With the technological advances in the twentieth century, technology has human interaction closer than anyone could have ever imagined. Phones- they are not capable of connecting multiple people from different parts of the world via phone, video chat, email, and text messages. No one can deny that cell phones have brought many luxuries to people. Also, no person can deny that cell phones have also brought many detrimental consequences. Specially while driving. Is driving while texting dangerous?

Iphones, Blackberries, HTC, LG, Motorola and many other phones have become a “hot trend.” Theis hot trend has brought many consequences on the road. Research shows that the usage of cell phones while driving is linked to a rapid increase in automobile accidents that have cause injuries and even unintended deaths. The usage of cell phone while behind the wheel has been linked to driver’s inattention while driving. In 2008, reports and research estimated that 16 percent of all fatal crashes resulted from the lack of driver’s attention while driving according to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. (An estimated 5,800 people lost their lives and an estimated half-a-million people were injured.) Nearly fifty percent of teenagers admit to texting while driving, according to an article released by the American Automobile Association.

Yes, lets be honest. Who could live without an Iphone now days? But the consequences are too high. At the moment there is no national law that restricts or bans texting while driving or the usage of wireless phones while behind the wheel. Fortunately, some states have taken initiative towards banning texting and using cell phones while driving, or are requiring drivers to use hands-free devices.

Innocent lives are lost and thousands are injured due to the usage of cell phones while driving. Yes, cell phone are phenomenal, but they are also a huge hazard. Specially while driving. So remember to concentrate on driving safely instead of talking on the phone, texting, or playing a game.

People should receive a small electrical charge every time they attempt to use their phone while driving. Maybe, this will decrease the likelihood of accidents due to cell phone usage. THEY SHOULD HAVE AN APP FOR THAT.

Hello

Hello everyone,

My name is Armando Aguilar. I am 21 years-old and I am a transfer student from Portland, OR. I was born in Mexico City, where I lived for eight and a half years before moving to Spain. I lived in Valencia for a year and a half before moving to Boise, ID in 1999. My major is International Business. I love playing soccer and my favorite football team is FC Barcelona from Spain. I speak English, Spanish, decent Portuguese and I am in the process of learning French. I’ve lived on my own since 2008. All my family is in Mexico City.

I love the outdoors, but I must say that New York is amazing. I am an extrovert and love the social life. Ironacly, all I do is school and work, so I don’t have much of one. I used to be a Regional Officer for Phi Theta Kappa. I would love to join a club on campus, but due to my busy schedule, I’m afraid I can’t.

This is a street soccer video link on YouTube. I hope you all enjoy it and see how crazy soccer can get. I hope some of you save some money and head down to brazil for the world cup 2014. Samba!!!!

"I find it fascinating of how your meditation can help you in lucid dreaming. Being in a unconscious world were you can take total control of every situation, event, person, place, or material things is the ultimate advantage while dreaming. I do think it is a little scary to put the body at rest, but yet your mind is functioning and perceiving activity that is created by your state of rest and dreaming. Have you ever thought that maybe this type of information will one day become a technology for video games, rehabilitation, or even job training? Meditation is great for easing stress and coping with all the negativity that builds inside of us. As I read your answers I noticed that meditation helps you a lot specially since you live in one of the most fast-paced, overcrowded, and big cities in the world. P.S. keep meditating and try to rest. Rest helps a lot too. Good luck in Psy 1001 this semester :)"

"1. What is your reaction to the choices made by the author of this Reflection in terms of which memories they chose to keep and which memories they are discarding. ---I believe that the author seems to think that by spending time with his family member and friends, she will be able to recover her lost memories. But since she is unable to recall any memories, how would she know that these people are people she knows? Even pictures and visiting places she frequented might not refresh her lost memories and may cause panic or confusion. I also believe that this would bring her loved one a lot of emotional pain. 2.How would you feel if this friend did not remember you (imagining that you are their longtime friend)? ----I would feel extremely sad to see my long time best friend not being able to remember me, our good fun times, and all the future plans we had made together. 3. What role might you play in helping them reconstruct their memory? ---I would try to recreate a highly emotional event that my friend had experienced in the past. Since it is the good emotional times that tend to stick in a person's mind. Hopefully this would bring back some if not a high amount of memories back to my friend. 4.Based on what you’ve learned in class and through your readings, what memory encoding, consolidation, and retrieval techniques might you use or teach to help this person recover and reintegrate their memories? ---Repition, rehersal, priming, and chunking. Repition of activities might bring long-term memories as well as rehersal. Rehersing physical activities together, singing, etc. Priming might help my friend in the way that attending to places we frequented my bring back memories. Chunking might help in the way that a ton of information can be rearranged in ways to make her lost memories more easy to remember. Last but not least, having adequate sleep every time we do a memory exercise might be quite helpful since adequate rest tend to help the body and brain perform better."
