Case Study for how everyday exercise can improve cognitive stability in college students.

■ Research question to explore through a research study design:

The research study design is to find out whether college students who also work out have a higher state of mental stability.

■ Variables and concepts to observe and/or manipulate:

There are two variables: Students exercising and studying is being manipulated while the grades of students are being observed.

■ Research design research question:

The research study is going to be experimental. Because correlation does not mean causation, experimental study suits my research question.

■ Research method to conduct experiment:

The research method will be case study to conduct experiment.

■ Independent and dependent variables:

The exercise and studying of students is the independent variable and the grades of  the students are the dependent variable for the case study.

■ Hypothesis:

The students exercising and studying will have mostly higher grades in college due to their mental state when they study and take exams. They will be more in control and collective.

■ Benefits and implications of this study:

This study is beneficial for students. Students who study a lot already have a high percentage of getting a high grade on the exam, but if you can relieve yourself and create this mental state in which you are calm and collective, it will allow you to grasp more information and keep you less stressed out.

■ Process of designing this experiment:

So, I selected the variables and arranged them as dependent and independent. After that I hypothesized that students exercising and studying will have better grades in school. It was an interesting experimental design. It does have some confounding variables as well , for example, it depends on what variables relieve the student of stress etc. Exercise may not work for everyone student. I believe students should find what helps them relieve themselves, even if it’s just taking a break to grab your favorite drink.

Holaz Everyone!!!

Hello everyone, my name is Racheal Ali and I am a sophomore at Baruch college. I was born in Trinidad, a small Island of the cost of Venezuela and lived there for seven and a half years until I moved to NYC. I like singing, playing sports and just taking in the outdoors for fun.  Psychology is not my intended major but I am considering minoring in it since I believe that it is essential for a person to understand the human mind when entering the Business world. Sadly, I have not joined any clubs or organizations, but I do intend to! I am honestly not sure what to share from the web. I do have, probably two videos on YouTube with me speaking on a panel about the proposed closing high schools. I am not sure if anyone is aware of it but Bloomberg and Joel Klein started closing up to 94 schools because there are supposedly improving the school system. That simply shows that when I feel strong about something I will fight for it. It’s too much to say but I did go to great lengths to try and keep my school and the other schools from closing. In the end we got an injunction but that obviously does not stop the government. Regardless of the pass, I look forward to an awesome semester with you all!!

"I believe that bad past memories from childhood have a huge impact on a person's life in the future but not all bad experiences are truly bad. Some bad experiences as a child can help you learn to adapt to situations. Others can make you more positive in a sense because you never wanted to be in a place like that ever again. Good and bad childhood memories make us who we are today. They mold our lives and influence us whether by allowing us to not trust others easily or to live life free with no worries. I would be really sad. I am a very emotional person so if we were very close and you didn't remember me, it would hurt me. I would also be reasonable since it wouldn't be him/her fault. I would try to jot their memories, with experiences we shared together, taking them back to places they enjoyed, showing them pictures and even videos. These are mainly encoding techniques but I would try to move it from short term to long term so that they do become somewhat like themselves again. I wouldn't give up on them because there's always at least one thing out there that can help bring back memory, even if it doesn't bring back all of it."

"I agree that working out is very beneficial and that there are many variables that can create problems for this research. In terms of age, since I am talking about college students, it would be from ages 16 to possibly 30. Most people in that age field would be able to exercise to some extend obviously with exceptions. I don't believe that we need to push our body's when exercising to achieve mental stability. Just enough. It depends on the person and their health issues. A minimum work out should be for 15 mins a day, wither your doing push ups, running, or just doing yoga. The more you exercise to whatever pace, the more mentally stable you should become. I am not sure for about the people who drink supplements. Gatorade and things like that should be okay but as of steroids and etc, I am not sure. Exercise does not need drugs or supplements especially when your just exercising to create a better mental state. If you do choose drugs and supplements it up to you to know the effects of it."

"Wow, that's pretty awesome. I actually really want to study aboard in Egypt, Greece or Rome. My favorite is Greece because of Greek Mythology and its history."
