recoverying memory

For this reflection, imagine that you were unexpectedly struck by a falling object, which caused you to experience retrograde amnesia. As we learned, retrograde amnesia is the loss of memories which occurred before the brain injury. In this case, imagine this accident has caused you to forget all your explicit memories from childhood up until you were struck by the falling object.

Luckily, a medication has been developed to help you recover your memories, but it’s up to you to guide the recovery process.

1. How would you begin the process of recovering your memory? Who would you turn to, where would you search, and how would you proceed?

If I want to know about myself before I experienced retrograde amnesia, I will first ask my doctor to find my home, so that I can begin from my family members in my journey of recoverying lost explicit memory. Aside from memories that I can recover from my family, they can help me find some of my friends and my school. From the registral’s office, I can find my previous professors and inquire them about my past; professors might also be helpful finding several of my friends. After recoverying memories from the people I know,  I could slowly getting most of my memories back.

2. Please describe the emotional journey you imagine you would be going through as you attempt to reconstruct your life. Imagine the feelings you would have.

I think that when I first regain consciousness, I will feel empty and afraid. It will feel like woke up from your dream to find yourself in a strange place with strangers who tells you about your past, which you don’t have any slightest clue about. This could freak me out. After a while, I might be ajusted to that situation and slowly shift focus to recover my memories, and the initial shock may go away soon.

3. Suppose you were able to pick and choose the memories you wanted to recover from your life. What types of memories would you choose to retain and what types of memories might you decide to edit out of your remembered experience? Positive, negative, painful, happy, angry, frightened, etc. Please elaborate and explain some your decision making process.

I think all memories are imortant. Some people think that only good memories are important, but I think bad memories are also important. I can learn from the bad memories better than good ones most of the times. So, I dont want to remove/retain any of my memories, or edit them. The distorted memories will cause me to believe in something rediculous.

gaming and grades

Through my research, I want to find what impact do playing video games have on students’ exam grades.

I’ll have to find students’ time of playing games and their grades for my research.

To make it easy for a beginner researcher like me, I want to use a descriptive research design using surveys.

In my research, the dependant variable is the exam grades that students get; the independent variable is the number of hours of computer gaming.

My hypothesis is that playing moderate amount of game could actually improve a student’s exam grades, and will have a negative impact when the student plays excessively.

By doing this research, I hope to help the students manage the right amount of time they spend playing games.

I might find difficult even just to get enough students to complete my survey. I might have to compare different classes, different students, different gender, different games etc to get a reasonable comprehensive conclusion.

In designing this research, I did not find any difficulty, although my research can be faced with challenges in the process.

Lets play dota

Hello chaps, I’m a freshman in baruch this semester, so I hope some girls from this class can make friend with me.  I grow up in many places on the earth, but as far as now, mostly in China. I like to play dota, so if you are interested in learning/playing this computer game with me, you can ask me for a free copy of warcraft3, which is a game that usually cost about 80 dollars. psychology is not my intended major, I take this class because the professor is hot. My favorite class is “moral education” that I took it in china, and I suddenly  became a moral person after taking that class. Me and Brother Yong is planning to create a dota club, if you want to support us, please talk to me.

"* What would be your hypothesis of the study’s outcome? My hypothesis is that bring computer to class generally decreases the exam grade. * What suggestions do you have for the researcher on how to improve or adjust the proposed study? He should make observations on computer usage and ask the professor to help him on his research by revealing the students' grades to him. but, the students has to agree to comply first. * Are there any drawbacks or potential harmful impacts of this research design (or results?) yes, it can cause the computer-using students to be seen as "better" or "worse" students by others once the result is widely published. * What would be the NEXT STEP after this hypothetical research study were conducted and presented to the public? Can you propose a replication with a good twist? I think that the next step could be finding out if the gender, age, and attending classes makes any difference on the result."

"1. After reading the reflection writer’s description, what do you think was happening to them during the meditation on a physiological level? I think that the author moved his focus from responsibility to something pleasant so that he feel less anxious. 2. Based on your readings throughout the semester, what areas of their central and peripheral nervous systems may have been effected during the meditation? I think the parasympathetic part of the nervous system have been effected during the meditation. by meditation, the author was able to relief his mental burden by the parasympathetic system. 3. What questions do you have for the writer about their experience? Why is your previous anxiety level and tension level differ so much before/after the meditation? How did you feel few hours after the meditation? 4. Based on the description provided, would you be open to trying the same meditation exercise? Yes, it seems very pleasant."

". After reading the reflection writer’s description, what do you think was happening to them during the meditation on a physiological level? Nothing happened really. she can not meditate, so there is no available answer to that. 2. Based on your readings throughout the semester, what areas of their central and peripheral nervous systems may have been effected during the meditation? Although she did not complete the meditation, but i think that most of her anxiety is coming from the amygdala. 3. What questions do you have for the writer about their experience? if you could actually meditate, would you feel better? 4. Based on the description provided, would you be open to trying the same meditation exercise? Yes, because I want to feel it my self."

"shijun xiao: wow, although It's probably not "healthy", but I think this could be fun! I'd like to know what I'll do to recover my lost my memory. To test my IQ and EQ without memory, you know- - chunling hung: thanks for your thoughtful reply! I'm assuming that most people will be delighted to be your friends because you are so nice, lol qianying guan: lol, ty! People will be lucky to have a friend like you! xiongxi dong: Thanks for showing interest in my post. In my opinion, a person's bad memory is a memory which can easily cause negative moods to a person when recalled. For example, once I lend 50cents to my classmate and then he denied that he borrowed 50cents from me- - wenhu wu: (jk) If you are my friend, it's very possible that I'll fu up once I realize what you did lmao! You’d be a fun and nice friend to have Note: I'm thinking whether the blog monitor is going to delete my reply because I used inappropriate language."
