Hello!

Hey guys, my name is Basm Mohsen, and since I just transferred from the College of Staten Island, it’s my first semester at Baruch and I have to say, I really like it here! I was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, but at the age of 6 I moved to Egypt and lived there for 3 years. I have to say, I hated it back then, as it was hard to adapt to a whole new culture and lifestyle at such a young age. As I got older though, I realized how significant the experience was, and now I’m beyond grateful for what I’ve learned in the 3 years of living there. My intended major is International Business with a minor in Finance which means lot’s of work to do for the next 2 years! I don’t mind though, it’ll hopefully pay off in the end. My favorite class so far has to be Psychology actually. I mean, I’m taking calculus, law, and business administration classes, Psychology wins hands down! I was actually originally a Biology major in my previous institution, so some of the terms we use in class are familiar to me, but it also brings back horrible memories of Chemistry and Physiology study sessions…yeah, not good! Anyways, I’m looking forward to spending the rest of the semester with you fine people, so enjoy it and make the best out of class!

Favorite artist? AJ Rafael! If you like to listen to good music that isn’t mainstream, give this guy a chance, you’ll like his music!

"My hypothesis for the study's outcome would actually be the opposite of yours, as I actually think that technology has allowed us to communicate in a way humans never even dreamed of. All technology has done is that it replaced the physical touch with a digital touch when it comes to our loved ones. In other words, we've become so in touch with each other digitally, that we've lost touch physically. But that doesn't mean it's wrong, it's just the modern format of romance. In the end, I feel like the group that has access to technology will end up on top in terms of keeping in touch with their loved ones. One of the drawbacks is the obvious lack of communication in case of an emergency, so you'd have to give your control group a way to contact their loved ones if absolutely needed. A twist for this would be to see the effects of "public display of affection" in the form of technology and in the "real" world. So for example, what is more meaningful? Sending a flower to a loved one at the office? or something similar on their Facebook page?"

"You know, I actually don't think I've met any Colombians in my last school, so you might be the first! I just transferred to Baruch, and the fact that the student body is so ethnically diverse is one of the things I love about this school. Dancing like a loser in your room? Haha, don't worry we've all got some weird in us! Good luck this semester, and hope to see you around!"
