Recovering from Retrograde Amnesia

1. How would you begin the process of recovering your memory? Who would you turn to, where would you search, and how would you proceed?

First, I would have to find out who I am from a 100% trustable  source. Then, I have to get hold of my friends and family if I lost communication with them when the accident happened. I will ask everyone of them about myself and look for any evidence of my past life, such as diary, official records of me and maybe even my social media profiles.

2. Please describe the emotional journey you imagine you would be going through as you attempt to reconstruct your life. Imagine the feelings you would have.

I think I will be very suspicious about everything. I will probably not trust any people for awhile. I will probably even refuse any body from helping me. I will also feel very empty and helpless.

3. Suppose you were able to pick and choose the memories you wanted to recover from your life. What types of memories would you choose to retain and what types of memories might you decide to edit out of your remembered experience? Positive, negative, painful, happy, angry, frightened, etc. Please elaborate and explain some your decision making process.

At first, I will probably choose to only recover my memories that are pleasant to know. As I mentioned before, I will feel very empty and helpless. I really need something good to support my momentum during the process. After awhile, I will be very curious about the memories that are not very pleasant as well. I will try to recover those memories later in my recovering process.  Because I want to know everything about myself, otherwise I will not truly recover from who I am. I am afraid of a huge personality change if I don’t recover most of my memories.

Hello!!!

My name is Nan. I am originally from China. I moved to the United States with my family in 2005. This is my first semester at Baruch. I have received a A.S. degree in Accounting at Nassau Community College before I transferred here. So far everything is going great with me. I am having a lot fun with things that Baruch are offering me. I like this school at lot. The major I am going to pursue here is Public Accounting.

"1. After reading the reflection writer’s description, what do you think was happening to them during the meditation on a physiological level? I think the writer relaxed both his mind and his body through his yoga exercise. He was able to deeply relax his mind through the meditation process, at same time he performed some body stretch which would increase blood flow and relax his muscles. 2. Based on your readings throughout the semester, what areas of their central and peripheral nervous systems may have been effected during the meditation? From yoga exercise body's parasympathetic nervous system would be activated. Heat rate and blood pressure would decrease. Endorphins would then be produced, and the body would be relaxed from it. 3. What questions do you have for the writer about their experience? I have heard that yoga could be dangerous sometimes. Have you found any disadvantages of your yoga exercise from your first hand experience? 4. Based on the description provided, would you be open to trying the same meditation exercise? Yes! I would totally give yoga a try. I think I may actually do it after the final exam."

"Hey, Trang, I didn't know that you work 4 days a week and take 18 credits. That is very tough. Work hard and keep your head up. All the hard work will definitely pay off later on."

"1. What would be your hypothesis of the study’s outcome? It will depend on how much people travel during a calender month. If the average trips a person travels exceed 104/2.25, it will be cost efficient for buying a monthly pass. 2. What suggestions do you have for the researcher on how to improve or adjust the proposed study? I think the research question could be better since we can simply calculate if buying a monthly pass is cost beneficial. 3. Are there any drawbacks or potential harmful impacts of this research design (or results?) It will be very hard to use observation method since monthly metro pass and single ride ticket look identical. 4. What would be the NEXT STEP after this hypothetical research study were conducted and presented to the public? Can you propose a replication with a good twist? That’s often how research works and how the field is able to advance. Maybe you can think up a great Follow Up study! I think we can conduct a follow up study on how cost of travel effect people's traveling habit."
