Retrograde Amnesia

1) How would I recover my memories?

I would interrogate my parents, relatives, and friends. Of course, I would need to figure out who are my friends first but that’s another story. I scan for any online presence of myself (facebook).

2) My emotional journey

It would be a frustrating to regain my memories for many reasons. The first would be finding out whether or not someone is lying to me or not. I would also have to decipher the previous relationship I held people I talk to; are they close friends, relatives, etc?

3) Recoverable Memories

I would recover as many memories as possible, both positive and negative. Without negative experiences, I would have a skewed view of the world. Without positive experiences, I would fall into a depressed state. The memories that I would choose over all else would be those between me and the ones I am closest with (family and extremely close people).

I’m saying hello

So here I am saying hello to you all for my extra credit (I’m sure more than half of you guys are here for the same reason); well here goes nothing.

My name is Calvin Lin and I’m 19. This is my first psychology class I have ever taken and quite frankly, I’m bored stiff. Maybe it’s because we are in the first few chapters and we are all required to memorize many many MANY terms (chapter 3….). Hopefully, the later chapters in this course will spark my interest (and not put me to sleep in the lecture hall).

According to Baruch’s credit system, I am a sophomore who is tired of completing his prerequisites to enter Zicklin. Within Zicklin, my intended major is Marketing or Economics; I’m not too sure about which one as of right now. I am currently active in Baruch’s Tae Kwon Do club so if anyone reading this wishes to join, come find me for more information. I also love to play volleyball so if anyone needs someone to play with you know where to look.

I would love to end my post right here because everything up there is all I have to say. But, one of the requirements of this “saying hello” post is to add a link of some sort showing something of myself. I now choose to link you guys to one of my favorite songs on Youtube. The song is called Float my Boat by Lazy Jay, I hope whoever is reading this enjoys the song.

"1. After reading the reflection writer’s description, what do you think was happening to them during the meditation on a physiological level? -Lily was overwhelmed at the stream of thoughts as she began meditation and thus, ended her meditation session prematurely. 2. Based on your readings throughout the semester, what areas of their central and peripheral nervous systems may have been effected during the meditation? -I will guess amygdala and hypothalamus. I'm not sure about the rest. 3. What questions do you have for the writer about their experience? -Would you try this again? 4. Based on the description provided, would you be open to trying the same meditation exercise? -Sure, why not?"

"There many confounding variables with this experiment as you have said. One major confounding variable would be the amount of other classes a student is taking along with psychology. A student taking 6 classes and sleeps 10 hours definitely does not have as much time to study for psychology as a student who is only taking psychology and sleeps 10 hours."
