What would I do?

If I had amnesia I would hope my friends help by bringing me to places I’ve been to before;helping me relive the past. Personally I would write. Writing stimulates creativity and allows the mind to run free. If were to lose my memories I would want my mind to flow and perhaps in the mist of searching my creativity my memories cam be unlocked. Both these activities can stimulate the mind and also trigger emotions, which are closely related to memories.

During this time, I think I would rely on my closest friends (which I only have a few).  These people know my ups and downs and care able to endure with me and help me rediscover my past. I know that if I didn’t remember them, I would have trouble trusting them, but also be able to go through emotional turns which may help me with my memory.  I can only imagine the frustration i would have from not remembering the past.

But if I had a choice to keep or lose some memories I wouldn’t want to remember anything. Going about everyday without pre notions of who you are or who people perceived you as is like a new beginning; it’s like being able to look at the world and society from an outside view without all the things I was taught to accept or taught to believe. Everything I see today will probably look different.

Hi

Hi. I’m Dianna.

I’m a sophomore, graduated from Wagner High School on Staten Island.  Baruch’s been okay so far. Sometimes I wish I moved away from the city for school to experience more of a campus life. But since Baruch is in the middle of the city, I’ve gotten the chance to explore and discover this borough.  Even though I grew up on Staten Island, I rarely came out to Manhattan and was terrified of getting lost on the subways. But, it is a pain to travel at least an hour and a half to get to school every morning; I can never tell if I’ll be on time or late because of the MTA and ferry delays.

I currently am undecided major however, I am leaning toward international business. At Wagner, I was in the Hospitality and Tourism Academy so I am familiar with business and would like to have a career that has something to do with communicating or servicing other people.

As for my hobbies….I suck at sports and essentially I’m a book worm. My weekly routine consists of school, work, church, and homework. Whenever I get a chance to relax, I would sit and have a marathon watching some show like White Collar or Criminal Minds. But whenever I get a chance I love to write. I’be written a few poems and short stories but haven’t had all the time in the world recently to sit down and write these days.

And.. I think that’s about it. (My days are pretty routine and habitual haha) I look forward to having a great semester in this class! :]

"It's good to meditate when you are in stressful situations. In High School I used to meditate in my Yoga gym class, so I've experienced a guided meditation before. You stated that during your meditation, it was still a bit stressful because there was so much happening around you. It would help if you were in a less busy area that did not have the distractions to break you from your focus. The aim of a guided meditation is for you to centralize your thoughts on the parts of your body, notice the little things: this way, you can narrow your attention to that one thing and relieving your mind of the other thoughts that are cluttering. After reading and responding to your post, it makes me want to go and meditate myself, for I haven't done so in a while."

"I think this is an interesting idea. I'm like you, I need to physically write out my notes in order to learn, or at least feel like I'm learning. But, as I was reading your description on how to carry out this experiment, I would wonder about the conditions of the experiment and whether or not the results would be completely accurate (which you have also mentioned in your description such as how to conduct the same exact lecture for both groups and whether observing is more accurate or a lab experiment is better) I feel like this experiment is really complex in which you would have to conduct many experiments, both in a lab and in observation. Of course, as our professor keeps saying "correlation does not mean causation" the many experiments can find a correlation to writing notes and our testing outcome. But, we also need to keep in mind that since we are in a age of technology and many people grow up using a computer now, our minds may adapt to learning through the computer too. I think there are many factors to consider and be aware of when conducting this experiment."
