Do you know that Graffiti represents a human desire and need for communication and in some cases the simple display of existence

The practice of graffiti has become a popular way for people from anywhere to act out in opposition to the authoritative structure that restricts them. It has become a way for young people to outwardly express their inner struggle for identity through a creative outlet.

Do you know that language provides a tool to express, define, and gain control of our lives

Definitely, language is the crucial key to our own identity and freedom. It also provides the path to become equal in this social world structure. Unfortunately, language can also be used as an instrument of oppression against minority groups.

Hello Everyone

My name is Danilo Torre and I am currently attending Baruch pursuing my second bachelor’s degree in international business. I was born in Lima, Peru, South America and worked for about ten years in import-export business between USA-Peru. At the moment, I am working as a swim coach at LaGuardia Community College in Queens, and coaching little kids of ages 7 to 10. But I definitely want to return to the import and export business soon.

"The only thing that I know for sure is that there is a direct relationship between college students health with their academic achievement. Everyone knows that as we sleep the right amount of hours, we will have our system in a good condition and we will be ready to go better for our academic goals. However, what is the right amount of sleep hours? thinking that everyone is different."

"I totally agree, and I believe that physical fitness training leads us to improved self-concept, mood, and work behavior. There is a research that suggests that the evidence is less clear in the effects on cognitive functioning. However, it does appear to bolster cognitive performance during and after physical stress. The study also mention that for self-concept, personality traits are not affected by improvements in physical fitness."

"Definitely I agree with your reflection. I believe that the language could be a barrier and can affect no only students grade, but also can affect other fields such as home, health care, advertising, or work place. For example, at home, parents who do not speak the language have difficulties to help their children with their homework or communicating with teachers. In the work place, interaction between co-workers who speak different languages can result in confusion and misinterpretation. In the health care situation, language barriers affect doctors and patients."

"Very interesting reflection especially in these days when the modern workplace has radically changed over the last twenty years. Nowadays, students from Columbia, NYU, Cornell, or Baruch no longer compete each other for jobs, instead, they are competing against immigrant students who are well educated not only from their home country, but also from U.S. Universities."
