Research: What is a more effective way to study? More studying or more sleep?

What is more effective?
Studying more hours with less sleep or less studying with more hours of
sleep.

I’d look for students who have similar GPA’s and do not have
any disorders that could affect their sleeping or studying.

I’d perform experimental research.  I would have one group of students study certain material all
night without sleep and I would have the other group study the material briefly
and have more sleep before the test.
Then the same test would be given to both groups.  Then I would look at the results to
determine which group did better on their tests.

If possible I’d perform the test in a classroom, where
hopefully the students do not spend most of their classes in.

The amount of sleep would be manipulated between the two
groups so that would be my independent variable.  My dependent variable would be what groups studying techniques is
more effective based on the results of the test.

My hypothesis is that those who study less and sleep more
would do better.  When you are tired you
cannot concentrate as well and will not feel as well as those who are better
rested.

I think all students could gain from this study.  We will learn the more effective ways to
study and in turn should be able to get better grades.

My reflection of designing this experiment was probably as
difficult as I thought it would be.  I
did not think it would be too difficult as long as I could come up with an
idea.  Once I had an idea to do a
research experiment on I did not find it that difficult.

Hello

My name is Joseph Gervasi and I am a first semester transfer student.  I spent one year away at school living in Albany and my previous year at Brooklyn College.  I plan on staying at Baruch until I graduate because this was the school I had originally planned to attend.

I grew up in Staten Island which is where I live now.  My hobbies are hanging out with my friends and family.  I enjoy sports whether it is sitting in front of the TV for hours or being outside all day and playing baseball, basketball etc.

Psychology is not my intended major but I am enjoying this course.  It is interesting and I feel like the information I am learning in this course will be useful throughout my life.  My major is accounting and had nothing to do with any type of science but psychology has been my favorite class so far.  As for being apart of any clubs or organizations I am not involved.

This picture is a good picture describing my personality because its a bunch of kids that are friends, being clowns and playing baseball.

"Almost done with college, good for you. I love watching football too. A sunday is meant to be spent in front of a TV all day. Anyway, good luck with the real estate business!"
