Meditation Reflection

A. First, take note of the moods you’ve experienced.

I am currently stressed out about school and internships. Im worried i won’t be able to get anything for the summer and I’m not doing so great this semester in my classes.

B.   Assess your overall level of anxiety on a scale of 1 to 10.

I would say my anxiety level is a 5.

C.   Assess the level of physical tension in your body- where do you notice the tension? Try rating your overall tension on a scale of 1 to 10.

My level of physical tension is 5. Ummm my tension would probably be in my shoulders.

III. After you have finished your meditation, re-asses your

state of mind and body.

A.   Reassess your mood on the chart.

When I was done meditating, my mind was very clear compared to before. I felt less stressed. My shoulders were a bit more relaxed and i was more calm.

B.   Reassess your level of anxiety from 1 to 10.

My anxiety level is currently a 2.

C.   Reassess your level of physical tension and rate it from 1 to 10.

My physical tension level is a 2.

IV. Describe the experience– What type of meditation did you
choose? Describe what was going on in your mind and your body, what kind of thoughts and sensations did you experience during the meditation? Were there any challenging or frustrating aspects of the experience, and if so, what were they? Would you try this again in the future? Why or why not?

I’ve decided to do the Guided Meditation by Mark Abramson. My mind and body was focused on just breathing and i tried not to think about anything else. At first, it was hard to block thoughts, but it got easier as I got used to mediating. It was very relaxing and that focus helped me become less stressed  about school and work. Since i really am a person who dwells on things it real helped me get my mind off it. I will try this again to help me focus on other things to avoid stress and anxiety.

"1. What is your reaction to the choices made by the author of this Reflection in terms of which memories they chose to keep and which memories they are discarding. I think the memories they choose to forgot are good, but life isn't always about the good memories. The bad memories have just as much or even more value than the good ones since they are learning experience and build character. I also think the memories they choose to remember are good and useful to maintain her close social circles. 2. How would you feel if this friend did not remember you (imagining that you are their longtime friend)? Well if i know the cause of her memory loss then i wouldn't feel so bad about it. If anything, i would feel it my duty to help them remember to relieve the awkwardness. 3. What role might you play in helping them reconstruct their memory? Well going from the long time friend scenario, i would make sure to go over our past experiences especially the really memorable ones to help jog, or recreate their memory. 4. Based on what you’ve learned in class and through your readings, what memory encoding, consolidation, and retrieval techniques might you use or teach to help this person recover and reintegrate their memories? I would use photos, videos, movies we enjoyed, video games, and music we enjoyed to try and recover their memories."

"▪ What would be your hypothesis of the study’s outcome? Reply: My hypothesis is that people with more sleep have a better mood * What suggestions do you have for the researcher on how to improve or adjust the proposed study? Reply: My suggestion is that someone impartial should judge the mood of the person not the person themselves since they may be biased in there answers. * Are there any drawbacks or potential harmful impacts of this research design (or results?) Reply: I think the one i mentioned people will change the results based on what they want to portray * What would be the NEXT STEP after this hypothetical research study were conducted and presented to the public? Can you propose a replication with a good twist? That’s often how research works and how the field is able to advance. Reply: The next step would be to see the difference in productivity between the different groups. Reply: A twist would be adding people who are narcaleptic and people who have insomnia as new groups in the study."
