What area of interest/research question do you wish to explore through a research study design?
What is the effect of number of classes taken on the performance of students?
What is the effect of number of tasks on the performance of students?
During this research, I am going to observe how a number of classes taken influences how student do in school.
What type of design would best suit your research question? (Experimental, Correlational, etc)
My research will be a correlational study
What research method would you use to conduct your experiment? (Survey, case study, naturalistic observation, lab experiment, etc.)
I will use a survey on a representative sample.
If applicable, what would you put as your independent and dependent variables?
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE: a number of classes taken
DEPENDENT VARIABLE: grades/performance during school
Give a hypothesis about what you think you might find.
The more classes a particular student takes, the lower his/her grades are.
What might be the benefits and implications of this study? In other words, who would gain from it? Basically, students can gain from this study. They can learn how many classes they can take to perform good in school.
Please reflect on the process of designing this experiment. What were the challenges you faced? Was this more/less difficult than you expected? How?
The most difficult part of this research was to find a subject or area of study.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Lukasz. I grew up in Poland. I came to the United States 5 years ago. However, I graduated from my High School in Poland. Now, I live in Queens. I’m an upper Freshmen at Baruch, so I’m accustomed to this school. So far, my major is Finance/Investments. But, I’m going to transfer to another college to prepare for the medical school. (It’s a long story why I ended up at Baruch.)
My favorite classes at Baruch are Philosophy and Psychology – especially, the part about neuroscience. Mainly, because it is connected to Biology. Also, my cousin studies Psychology in Poland and I like talking about psychological disorders with her. Additionally, my hobby is collecting coins. I’m crazy about that. Another thing that I really enjoy is listening to music. This is the link to my favorite song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPUJIbXN0WY
My life is somehow connected to music because I play instruments (the accordion, the piano, and the keyboard… basically, on everything that has keys and buttons).
If you want to ask something or comment, do so 🙂

"1. After reading the reflection writer’s description, what do you think was happening to them during the meditation on a physiological level?
Physiologically, the writer, by using the technique of meditation, stimulated the brain activity. Thus, Harleen calmed the mind and stabilized attention. The meditation might also enhance awareness of present moments.
2. Based on your readings throughout the semester, what areas of their central and peripheral nervous systems may have been effected during the meditation?
I think that during the meditation hippocampus and amygdala, which is a region connected to anxiety and stress, were affected. Moreover, medulla, which regulates breathing, heart rate and blood pressure, might have been affected as well. Additionally, the peripheral nervous system may cause muscles to be less tense.
3. What questions do you have for the writer about their experience?
I would as if the author encountered any distractions, such us the flow of thoughts, during meditation?
4. Based on the description provided, would you be open to trying the same meditation exercise?
I would be really persuaded by the fact that meditation can help alter the brain. Obviously, it is worth practicing as it helps calm the body."

I agree with choices you would've made if you had lost your memory. However, the "Uncle Google" wouldn't be a good choice to search information about yourself. As you wrote at the beginning, it will be better to find out who you are by going to a police station. Also, I see you really value your family. It will be a good source of getting the information about you since the emotional memories are easier to recover.
2. How would you feel if this friend did not remember you (imagining that you are their longtime friend)?
I would feel really sad because friendship is very important in my life. That would be a hard time for me. Of course, I would try to help my friend to recover, and I would put all my effort to make up the friendship.
3. What role might you play in helping them reconstruct their memory?
As I said before, I would put all my effort to help my friend recover after the accident. I might talk to him about events from his life. Also, I may take him to places which he has been familiar with, and I would bring some photos, and maybe videos, to recall some of his memories. Moreover, I would help and support my friend's family.
4. Based on what you’ve learned in class and through your readings, what memory encoding, consolidation, and retrieval techniques might you use or teach to help this person recover and reintegrate their memories?
First of all, I would start with encoding. I might show my friend some photos and associate information with it. Thus, he will easier remember this. I would also use structural, phonemic and semantic processing. After repeating a particular information several times, my friend would be able to recall some events from his life."
