Does single-parent child will be more likely to be a single parent later???

What area of interest/research question do you wish to explore through a research study design?

I would like to explore the effects of a single parent environment. Does single-parent child will be more likely to be a single parent later?

What variables or concepts are you looking to observe and/or manipulate?

I will be looking at two types of family’s children.

What type of design would best suit your research question? (Experimental, Correlational, etc)

I think it’s both Experimental and Correlational.

What research method would you use to conduct your experiment? (Survey, case study, naturalistic observation, lab experiment, etc.)

I will choose case study and naturalistic observation

If applicable, what would you put as your independent and dependent variables?

I don’t think it apply to my study.  I think I just need to compare regular family’s children and single-parent’s children.

Give a hypothesis about what you think you might find.

I might find that single-parent’s children will be more likely to be a single parent later.

What might be the benefits and implications of this study? In other words, who would gain from it?

I think society will gain from it. Be responsible for our behavior. What we do will affect our next generation.

Please reflect on the process of designing this experiment. What were the challenges you faced? Was this more/less difficult than you expected? How?

I need to study not only one case but more and the people I study need to diverse. It’s more difficult than I expected that I need to study a lot of people to make the result more accurate. I did not consider that there will me other factors or variables  or confounding variables that would affect the results.

Hello!!!!!!

Hi, I am Sarah. This is my first semester in Baruch! I just transferred from Hunter. Undecided major. It has been a hard time for me to choose a major but either Finance, Accounting or CIS. 🙂  It’s so excited to be a student at Baruch.

I grew up in China. So I am still working hard in English. Hopefully one day I can get rid of my accent.

I always like to challenge myself but at the same time I afraid that I won’t be successful. It’s ambivalent.

I love my Economic class. I think this because I like math. I haven’t touched math for like a year. Now I am so slow.  🙂

"1. After reading the reflection writer’s description, what do you think was happening to them during the meditation on a physiological level? On the physiological level, Elsie experiences highly concentration and relaxation in her body. And also the full consciousness of the present moment. 2. Based on your readings throughout the semester, what areas of their central and peripheral nervous systems may have been effected during the meditation? increases in EEG activity in the left frontal cortex. Also, the cortex will be thicker 3. What questions do you have for the writer about their experience? Would you recommend yoga meditation for everyone?? If so, can you explain more the benefit of it?? 4. Based on the description provided, would you be open to trying the same meditation exercise? I think I would, it seems it is a good way to relax and meditate."

"I think you are right of keeping all memories because we are our memory. If you don't remember me, I will be upset and try my best to help you recover your memory. I'll tell you everything I know about you. I will bring you to the place that you've been to and the people you've met. I think eventually you could retrieve the memory that is already consolidated in your brain. good luck, my friend!"
