Education vs. Health

It’s something students think about a lot. Is the education worth all the stress we go through? Due to the homework and other work that we receive from professors, most students sleep less than 8 hours on average (less than the recommended amount). I would like to conduct a study on how much a student’s health is affected by school.

I believe a correlational study would be best suited for this type of experiment because it goes against standard ethics to control a human’s life style. A simple case study or survey would be used to gather information about this interesting subject. The things I would observe would be a person’s health, which would include factors such as amount of times in the hospital, amount of times sick, amount of hours per week spent studying, etc. The correlation would be between the the amount of times sick or in the hospital against the amount of hours spent studying. I would also focus on the amount of time spent sleeping as well.

I hypothesize that people who spend less time studying will experience less health issues because not only does studying reduce your hours of sleep, but also causes stress.

However, while conducting the experiment, some subjects might lie in their case studies or surveys. So the results might be false.

"1. What is your reaction to the choices made by the author of this I believe they are very ordinary choices, but under the pressure of not knowing your past, I believe things would be very different. These choices are choices that would be made by a rational person, but would someone who has lost a certain part of his past be rational? I think these choices are very fictitious, but I believe they are good choices to be made. 2. How would you feel if this friend did not remember you (imagining that you are their longtime friend)? I would feel sad and disappointed, but I would be understanding at the same time. Because I understand with amnesia, it is not under one's control to remember certain memories or people over others. 3. What role might you play in helping them reconstruct their memory? I would try to help him replay memories in which he had fun. If we played basketball together, I would have us play a game of basketball. As we learned from psychology, it is memories connected with emotions that are the most memorable. 4. Based on what you’ve learned in class and through your readings, what memory encoding, consolidation, and retrieval techniques might you use or teach to help this person recover and reintegrate their memories? I would help him by connecting him with his most emotional times. Although I don't completely understand the dynamics of it, I am informed that emotion is strongly connected to memory partly because the amygdala is close to the hypothalamus. I understand that the amygdala is associated with emotions and especially with fear, but I would be hesitant to scare a person who just went through amnesia. So I would try to make him remember happy moments."

"A very interesting topic, I have often wondered if I should take notes or listen to the lecture. I usually try to write notes while paying attention, but not all the information processes. However, for your research, I think experiment research would be more fitted because that would allow you to control the variables better. You can have various groups. One group will only take notes, while another group will only pay attention to the lecture. Other groups can split their attention between notes and the lecture. However, if you avoided experiment research because of ethics then I completely understand."
