Precious Memory

1. How would you begin the process of recovering your memory? Who would you turn to, where would you search, and how would you proceed?

–  If I were unexpectedly struck by a falling object and experienced retrograde amnesia at first I would turn up-to my parents but I guess my diary will be my best friend that time.

Since age 10 I have the habit of writing in my diary every night about the incidents that I face the whole day, let it be important or not. There also I have attached pictures of all the important people that came into my life, all the important events that occurred in my life.

I will also try to meet up with my friends and neighbors every day to gain some knowledge about my past life.

2. Please describe the emotional journey you imagine you would be going through as you attempt to reconstruct your life. Imagine the feelings you would have.

– I will be like a new- born baby for whom everything has just started

I believe it will be very difficult and pressurizing for me to remember every single moments that happened in my life. All those dates, all those days,  that were very important for me for many years will be unimportant to me just in one second. What can be more painful than that?

.

3. Suppose you were able to pick and choose the memories you wanted to recover from your life. What types of memories would you choose to retain and what types of memories might you decide to edit out of your remembered experience? Positive, negative, painful, happy, angry, frightened, etc. Please elaborate and explain some your decision making process.

– Definitely I would want to retain my unhappy and painful memories because these are the memories would actually remind me my mistakes, my weakness and the way I overcame those moments.

Of course, I will like also to recall my happy, joyful memories too as they will make me more enthusiastic and give me the courage to do something but my priority will be my bad memories!

Somethings about me:)

Have you ever seen a person who doesn’t have a natural flair for watching t.v., chatting on Facebook, sleeping, dreaming, and moreover whose passion is to study 24/7!

Now guys don’t start thinking that I’m one of them, actually I am completely OPPOSITE of it and I am really proud of myself the way I am. Now let me tell something about me to introduce myself…

I am Taklim Mahmood Nadia( although my name sounds like a boy’s one but let me tell you I am a girl).I was born in New York and grew up in Bangladesh. This is my second semester in Baruch. My major is Accounting. I am currently working in Century 21 Departmental Store as a cash-register supervisor.  My hobby is to read adventurous books. I love to watch the ethereal beauty of the night sky, studded with millions of tiny twinkling stars. I hate people who lies but I myself am a big liar( OK, now that’s a open secret, so make sure you don’t say it to anyone!)

However I guess I need to stop now or otherwise you will be tired of me. Anyways, guys whoever took Psychology this semester, best of luck to you all. Don’t stress yourself a lot because I believe that never worked or will work!!! Have a wonderful time throughout this semester. Best wishes!

"*What would be your hypothesis of the study’s outcome? - Students who play video games get poor grades. *What suggestions do you have for the researcher on how to improve or adjust the proposed study? - We can obtain an experimental design to observe the outcomes of playing video games and obtaining good grades. *Are there any drawbacks or potential harmful impacts of this research design (or results?) - Excessive playing might cause eye strain. *What would be the NEXT STEP after this hypothetical research study were conducted and presented to the public? Can you propose a replication with a good twist? That’s often how research works and how the field is able to advance. Maybe you can think up a great Follow Up study! -Different type of video games might affect differently."

"*What would be your hypothesis of the study’s outcome? -Students who are involved in sports get poor grades in their exam. *What suggestions do you have for the researcher on how to improve or adjust the proposed study? - It could be an experimental design with natural observation. *Are there any drawbacks or potential harmful impacts of this research design (or results?) - We have to conduct this experiment with people who are familiar with sports or otherwise severe muscle pain or cramp or even injuries may occur. * What would be the NEXT STEP after this hypothetical research study were conducted and presented to the public? Can you propose a replication with a good twist? That’s often how research works and how the field is able to advance. Maybe you can think up a great Follow Up study! - We can do the same experiment with different aged people and see the outcomes."

"This is really an interesting topic. * What would be your hypothesis of the study’s outcome? - Same as yours, i.e., students who do not use laptops in class tend to do better than those who does. *What suggestions do you have for the researcher on how to improve or adjust the proposed study? - Experimental design is a good way in this case. I would have two sets of randomly selected people in a class. One set will have laptop during the class and the other set will not. * Are there any drawbacks or potential harmful impacts of this research design (or results?) -There could be other factors that will affect the outcome of this experiment. Some students might be inattentive in the class, some students might not study as a result they will get poor grades no matter which group they were assigned in. *What would be the NEXT STEP after this hypothetical research study were conducted and presented to the public? Can you propose a replication with a good twist? That’s often how research works and how the field is able to advance. Maybe you can think up a great Follow Up study! - We can conduct an experiment with the same topic but all the laptops that the students will use will be without internet connection. We can also correlate this topic with the students' age, gender etc."

"Hi! I want to take philosophy on my next semester but really undecided if I should take it because most of the people I asked about this course told me that its difficult! So what do you recommend me to do...will I register for it or not?"
