You might be a weird teacher, but you never bores me. Thank you for your silly jokes and your water spray, it really help me stay awake. When i see you i will pull my ear and thumb’s up, if you dont recognize me,i will change thumb into an index finger.
A. First, take note of the moods you’ve experienced.
I experiences unrest, sleep deprived, and a bit of headache. The cause of the symptoms were exams, tests, and midterms.
B. Assess your overall level of anxiety on a scale of 1 to 10.
The desire of getting a better grade, the concept of work and school really put a toll on my body. There are always these feeling of anxiety and lack of time, So i will rate my anxiety on a scale of 7 out of 10.
C. Assess the level of physical tension in your body- where do you notice the tension? Try rating your overall tension on a scale of 1 to 10.
Due to lack of sleeps, my facial features are usually stiff and droopy. sometimes, the headache can be a pain, especially when i pulled an all nighter.
III. After you have finished your meditation, re-asses your state of mind and body. A. Reassess your mood on the chart.
Less tense, more relaxed, and sleepy. B. Reassess your level of anxiety from 1 to 10.
5 out of 10 because New York City is not a great place for meditation, at least not to beginners like me. Too much traffic, too much noise, and the constant sounding of fire/police siren can easily discontinue you from meditating C. Reasses your level of physical tension and rate it from 1 to 10.
3 out of 10 because, my facial features such as eye sacs, center of my head, and the spot above my ears are becoming less tense and stiff.
IV. Describe the experience– What type of meditation did you choose? Describe what was going on in your mind and your body, what kind of thoughts and sensations did you experience during the meditation? Were there any challenging or frustrating aspects of the experience, and if so, what were they? Would you try this again in the future? Why or why not?
I chose the Forgiveness Meditation. Well, the meditation itself makes my mind remain in a state of calmness. For some reason, the meditation of forgiving keep brought up the memories of guilt i felt, and the process makes me push aside the guilt, even though the meditation itself talks nothing about forgiveness, the the name of the meditation unconsciously makes me think of guilt during the process of meditating . The meditation certainly helps me a lot by coping with stress, anxiety, and sleep deprivation, but i am not really sure if i will do the meditation in a daily scale, as it is time consuming and gives me the urge to sleep after the mediation. I really like the breathing techniques in the meditation because it can easily be used to relax the mind. I am not gonna lie, this meditation itself somehow makes me in control of my dream, in other word, the lucid dreaming. After the meditation, my body is in a state of rest, yet my mind are active and knows what happen.
P.S. i don’t think i will try this meditation often because it freaks me out. I mean, i rarely had a dream where i am in control before, as a result, the experience makes me wonder if there is more to meditation than just relax the mind.
Hi there!! my name is Wen, you can call me Wen, and nothing else. I am from China, I been here for around 15 years. I only been to the Tri-states areas of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. My interests and hobbies revolve around computer and FACEBOOKING. Sometimes, i wondered to myself, why am i so addicted to facebook? this question stays with me for a long long time, and i finally found the answer. The answer is, i am too bored. If i have better things to do i will not stay on facebook and documenting my life 24/7 and write everything on my facebook, mostly useless JUNK i wrote without a second thought.
Believe me, Psychology is not my major, this subject is as complicated as the movie “Inception”, Everytime when the professor make a big revealation, my mind keep playing the throbbing, thriller-like tune from “Inception”. My favorite thing in class is “class participation” about the drug, and what it does to the people, i especially enjoys the part when participants shared their firsthand experience with the class.
I am not from any club, why? I think clubs are not as entertaining as it sound, people only wanted to make it sound exciting and interesting because they wanted to recruit more people. I will rather hang out with friend than hang out in a club doing nothing significant. (I am sorry if i offended anyone, i only said it on behalf of my experience).
I loved Professor Sitt, he is interestingly funny and energetic. He sure knows how to make jokes and get students’ attention. I think in lecture class, we needed people like professor Sitt, he keeps the student entertained and awake.
Funny
I loves funny pictures and I enjoy sending pictures to my friends to lighten them up and makes them giggle. Just to let you know, this picture is not me and is not taken by me, this is just one of the picture i came across. From the picture and my hobbies, you can tell, i am nonchalant, easygoing, and a bit sadistic. Yes! i said it, i am sarcastic, i dont intend to hide it and post all the good qualities. If i post only the good qualities, you wont be knowing me fully, and it defeat the purpose of understanding each other

"^ the guy above is spamming again. i personally will never write 2 sentences to comment on a large scales of writing, as it shows appreciation. I don't like the way Zhao made the post, but i do agreed that meditation is a necessary to keep the mind calm before the exam, because, as the mind calms it tends to remember more things, and as the mind calms the body can remain in a state of tranquility, keeping away from outside interference.
I LOLed the part about stress from finals, this makes me want to ask our professor to give us an A instead, this way we don't have to deal with stress. As a result, we don't need to meditate." posted on Nov 15, 2011, on the post Mediation
"Imagine you are a longtime friend of the person who wrote one of the reflection pieces, and consider these issues for your own comment.
1. Haha! You said you will feel incomplete about your memory if you only obtain the happiness and joyful moments in the memory, how will you know you are incomplete if you never know you forgot the sad memories? As a role of best friend, i will show you through places we been, the streets we walked, the hobbies we did, the songs we chose, the people we know.
2. If you forgot about me, i will be in pain and in sadness. my life will be filled with gloominess, life without you is simply not a life, but a torment. Imagine you and I had been friends for 10 years, not just friends, but close friends, and all of a sudden when i walked up to you and said "Hi", you just walked away in shock, fear, and confusion.
3. Well, to help my dearest friend reconstruct her memory, i decided to be a doctor, a good doctor that will find a cure to help her with her ailment. Alright, i won't go that far as becoming a doctor, that is too much of a lie. I will simply tell you you owe me $10,000, you will need to repay me or something. As a business major, i need to find every single method that allows me to make a profit. I can't disgrace Baruch college and professor by not taking this perfect chance to plunder you. LOL, this is another joke, the only thing i will do will probably be doing will be following you around to make sure you are safe and sound.
4. The best method will be Encoding a program called Episodic Stage, this help people remember the cruial things in their life. I am sure this will help the patient recover things the quickest." posted on Oct 29, 2011, on the post Memory

1. If this is a Facebook, i will put "Like" to the part about being fairytale. Of course, as a friend of your, as a longtime friend, i have to make your life a fairytale. What other options do i have? nothing, it is not like i am your worse enemy. If i am, i will make sure there won't be any part of fairytale appear in your life. Since i am a friend, i will make you a princess for the rest of your life.
2. If you can't remember me, i will delete you from Facebook's friendlist. You don't deserve to be in my friend list if you can easily forgot about me.
3. I will take her to her boyfriend, because i think her boyfriend will miss her, maybe will take her for a walk and help her out or something.
4. To make sure she will live a life of fairytale, i am sure the best way is through rehearsal and encoding, by making my friend rehearse the happiest moment, she will more likely to remember them, and encode her with a new program that will only contain blissful moment. Of course, perfection don't last, eventually she will gain some of the painful memories, eventually she will gain new painful memories." posted on Oct 29, 2011, on the post Lost in Memory

1. If you lost your memory, i will take you to all the places we been to before. We will be like these 2 people in the movie where the one man pushes the wheel-chair of an elderly lady around town to recollect their past.
2. If you don't remember who i am, i will feel sad and cry myself to sleep, i can't my best friend will forgot about me, i mean come on, we are like friends for a long time. If you still don't remember me after a week, i will have to add extra doses to the medication
3. I will show her pictures, Log On FB, show her who she had in her friend list, even though there is the problem of unknown people in the friend list. it is a good try though.
4. Encoding will be something she will need, we need to take her to some special places to retreat her episodic memories. I mean, that is the only way to gain crucial memories." posted on Oct 29, 2011, on the post Facing a new life
"1. Yea, i feel you, as a close friend i think you take the right path in recovering your memory, but of course, you cant find memory by yourself, you will need someone to lead you. As a best friend, i will lead to your house, your neighborhood, show you trophies, pictures, homework you did. Of course, i will also have to show you the pain, the pain of absent to class, the pain of failing college due to attendance, and finally, i will have you know, i already graduated while you are looking for your memories.
2. If you don't remember me, i will be cool with that because i don't want to babysit someone for life. Lets face it, i can't babysit you forever until you remember me.
3. To help my friend here from recovering memory, i had to take him and walk him around the neighborhood. If he still don't remember anything after 3 days, i think the doctor need to prescribe higher doses of medication.
4. To help you recover from memory loss, I might use the retrieval step, making you go through processes that you normally do, or should i said daily routine." posted on Oct 29, 2011, on the post Help! I Don’t Know Who I Am
"LOL! If i am your longtime friend, i will take advantage of the situation and try to give you a false memory of me, at the very least, make you depict me as a hero-like figure or a role-model. Of course, in order to do so, I will have to make you recover the good part of me and never the bad part. I will bring you to college, sits next to you, tells stories of your past, the places you love to go, the songs you love to listen to. I am sure by rehearsing and being active to the memory, eventually you will consolidate." posted on Oct 29, 2011, on the post recoverying memory
"Nice experiments, nice research, and very specific. I think the student who sleeps before exam will perform better, as they have better focus and alertness than the other group.
The only unlikely factor of the research is the part about finding students with equal intelligent and abilities because everyone are different, I suggest we randomly pick 2 different groups of students, one group will be giving the proper amount of sleeps, and the other group will stay awake the whole night. In the end we compare their score in comparison to their previous scores taken before the experiment take place." posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post Performance on exams: study overnight or have a good night sleep?
"I agreed with this smart kid, named Brian, I also think excercise can only release stress, but not GPA increase. to be more accurate, If my GPA can increase by excercising, what is the point of studying. I can magically gain knowledge and intelligent by doing treadmill.
Well, i think we should do a research based on sleep and stress, instead of adding GPA, because the more varible a research has, the more complicated it becomes." posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post Research Reflection: Workouts, Stress and GPA
"Interesting and unique. I liked the study, but it needs to be precise. for example, we can compare Immigrants students and US Borned students in a specific subject, such as English Literature, Math, Science, and ETC.
Personally, i Hypothecize the immigrants will do better in GPA since they do all their homework and are very competitive." posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post Do Immigrant students perform better academically than U.S born students?
"Coke VS. Pepsi, the legendary Rival thats being at competition and comparison for decades. Which one will be crowned the champion of SODA? I seriously have no clue, they are too identical. I am not sure which one will have more affect on studying, but i do know one of them will help you reach your first Diarrhea faster. Due to reputation and slandering towards the company, i feel liable to zip my mouth. I prefer Coke though, been a fan since childhood" posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post How different types of drinks affect the ability to study? Coke vs Pepsi
"What would be your hypothesis of the study’s outcome?
the hypothesis will be the student that had breakfast will function better than those who don't.
What suggestions do you have for the researcher on how to improve or adjust the proposed study?
Well, the lectured time is set at 10 minutes, which i believed will be too little to conduct a proper research. Maybe an hour or 2 will work. I mean, I seriously don't see the difference eating breakfast and not eating breakfast if the lecture class only being held for 10 minutes. Breakfast gave energy, therefore it will boost alertness and functionality in the long run, if the lecture class only being held for 10 minutes, i dont see much result from the study.
Are there any drawbacks or potential harmful impacts of this research design (or results?)
the potential harmful impact will be human abused if the study are being held for more than a month. well, one of the group will have to starve every morning for the sake of the study. if it is a long term experiment, i am sure it is against the human right.
What would be the NEXT STEP after this hypothetical research study were conducted and presented to the public? Can you propose a replication with a good twist? That’s often how research works and how the field is able to advance. Maybe you can think up a great Follow Up study!
to be Frank, i am sure the study itself are good, because it follows the basic rubric for a scientific research. Maybe we should make a research on heavy breakfast vs. light breakfast" posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post Does eating breakfast affects your ability to remember thing?
"your hypothesis makes sense, I can verified it firsthand experience. First of all, laptop is simply a distraction rather than assistance. How many people actually use it to learn? I will say less than 70%. Most people simply log on FACEBOOK and chat. Believe me, Everytime i went to class i see countless amount of students in FACEBOOK, rather than class' powerpoint.
I mean, come on, on your left there is a class that lasted 2 hours and on you right there are countless things you enjoy doing. Aren't you tempted to log on FACEBOOK and check the latest status?
The least the school can do is putting up some restriction to nonacademic sites, such as FACEBOOK. I SWEARED, AT SOME POINT ALONG THE CLASS A IS ON FACEBOOK WITH VOLUME ON ANNOYS ME LIKE NO TOMORROW. EVERY MINUTES I HEARD BLOP!BLOP!BLOP! SOUND FROM FACEBOOK NOTIFICATION, makes me want to snatch the laptop and smash it on the floor, but i restrained myself." posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post would the students who use the laptop in class have a better chance of achieving a better grade?
"Jmei, Shijie and Jennifer made some valid point about not being able to perform the underage intoxication test due to the fact, the participants are all underage. not only are the test flawed, the hypothesis are too obvious and everyone knows the answer. Especially in USA, everyone somewhere along their childhood are educated about the danger of achohol." posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post Alcoholic Beverages.
"i think it will be an interesting experiment, but plenty of varibles and specifications needed to confirm the reliability of the study. As we know, every scientific study needs a control group, without it, everything will be one-sided. in my opinion, study does not cause health issues, but the habit of cramming everything at the last minute cause health issues" posted on Oct 11, 2011, on the post Education vs. Health
