Mediation

A. First, take note of the moods you’ve experienced.

I feel sad today because I made a mess of my mid term exam.

B. Assess your overall level of anxiety on a scale of 1 to 10.

I am quite anxiety because I am worrying about how to make a good balance between work, school, family and friends. Especially during the mid term examination weeks, I feel extremely anxious because of the hardship for managing the time. In fact, I don’t have enough time to sleep so I think I am suffering by the 9-10 anxiety level.

C. Assess the level of physical tension in your body- where do you notice the tension? Try rating your overall tension on a scale of 1 to 10.

The obvious physical tension in my body are my head, as well as my eyes. I think it is because I spend most of the time sitting in front of the computer to work and study. I would my tension level would be a level 8

III. After you have finished your meditation, re-asses your state of mind and body.
A. Reassess your mood on the chart.
B. Reassess your level of anxiety from 1 to 10.
C. Reasses your level of physical tension and rate it from 1 to 10.

When I was done meditating, I feel my mind is “empty” and fresh. I cant say it is very useful but I can feel more relax before I done meditating. However, this relax and fresh feeling didnt last long because I have to get back to my tension life again. Indeed I can feel I have more energy to move forward in my work and job after I  done meditating.

IV. Describe the experience– What type of meditation did you choose? Describe what was going on in your mind and your body, what kind of thoughts and sensations did you experience during the meditation? Were there any challenging or frustrating aspects of the experience, and if so, what were they? Would you try this again in the future? Why or why not?

I choose the Intro Guided Meditation by Ajahn Sundara. I choose this because it seems very easy to me. However, the first step sitting straight is not that easy. It is because i used to put all my weight to lie on the back of the chair. Therefore, keep sitting straight without chair for 20 minutes is quite hard for me. Then she ask me to relax the shoulder, arm, chest. She also ask me to close my eyes and try to associate to my body. i feel a little bit calm. I try to stop thinking but I really cant. I focus on the sensation of my body. The surrounding is so quiet and I can hear the sound of my breath. She also ask my to attention about my conscious and be mindfulness. This is the the hardest part because I have too much things that I am worried about. And the noise of the surrounding is disturb the Meditation. I think this is normal because this is my first time. I think it is better for me to download it and put it in my ipod. Then I can try this again before I sleep. Night time is more quiet and easier for me to be mindfulness.

"Bringing you to places I’ve been to before is one of great idea to recover your memory. If you like to write, you maybe used to write Diary. I think review you own diary is the best way to recall your lost memory. Beside the diary, If you like to share you idea by internet in the past, i am sure you would like to use some social network site and spent lots of time on them. Therefore, you can also review all your post in your twitter, facebook, xanga and so on. Those post are fully represent tons of time you spent on internet follow by your interested. If I am one of your best friend and you forget me. I think I will be deeply sad but it wont last long. It is because I understand that you are not intend to forget me. It is cause by accident. I will do everything i can do to help recover and reintegrate their memories? will try to introduce some friends that we used to gather in the past. I will also try to bring you back to some place that we had some happy memories."

"This is a good way to recovery memory by reviewing the things you interested in the past. However, I don't agree that bring you to the place which the tragedy stories happened. It is because your memory may be self-protected and prohibit recover your past memory. For instance, the place that you struck by a falling object. Therefor as one of your best friend, I will only suggest to bring you to the "happy place" recover some happy memory. if this you did not remember me, I think I will be sad but wont be last long. It is because this is a unpredicted accident. I will try to introduce myself to you again. I will try my best to be friend with you again. As one you your best friend, I will try to help you to recall some past issues and key points that can help trigger the brain to remember stuff. To help you recover and reintegrate their memories, review some photos, album, videos and writing will helps you a lot. Most of those thing you can do it by your own. I think I can spend more time to talk to you, mostly talk about the happy memories we had."

"I saw couple of classmate also use performance of "Eating breakfast" vs. performance of" not eating breakfast " as research topic. However, i dont think the result of this research is accurate because There are a lot of factors influence the school performance, such as the Quantity and Quality of breakfast, and the definition of school performance. Some students may just eat a banana for breakfast. Some student may tend to eat a lot of food for breakfast. Those student who eat a lot may likely to fall asleep in class. Moreover, how to define the school performance? For instance, if a student is a team member of Baruch college basketball team, it is also belongs to "school performance". And it is hard to measure the performance beside of Class"

"This is a great experiment and I think most of classmate will be interested to participate. I am also very curious the outcomes of this experiment too. As Pamela said, some students are able to function perfectly with only five hours of sleep. I agree this statement but those are very minority in the 500 participates. I think your study does not take in to account is the fact that some students may working as part time or full time job. Some of these students may also working as high physical strength demand works or work under high degree of pressure. These students must need more time to sleep to perform well in class. More time to sleep may lead to less time to study and review. In short, although some of students may have more time to sleep, they also may not perform as well as the students who sleep lesser."
