“We have a Swedish roast blend,” noted Stephen Majcher, 26, barista at Konditori. “We air-dry the beans with heat, which makes it less acidic for a medium, mild taste.”
Sheena Khan, 31, originally from Florida and currently residing in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, spent two years living in Sweden and can vouch for the Swedish coffee traditions.
“Fika is very important to Swedes,” shares Khan. “They sit around slowly sipping their coffees and talk crap.”
Khan also confirms for the mild taste of Swedish coffee, because she can drink it black without being disgusted. But most of all she emphasizes that coffee is a social aspect for the Swedes, it is to gather with friends and catch up on each others’ lives.
So call a friend and have a European coffee date with someone you meant to see for a while. Konditori’s rustic, wooden design and cozy ambient lighting will accompany the perfect Nordic brew, with a sweet bite of cinnamon buns.
