About

Not everyone who lives in New York City orbits in the bright lights of fame and fortune. These multimedia projects by journalism students at Baruch College tell the stories of lesser-known New Yorkers — the Bronx deli owner struggling to keep his business afloat, the ice sculptors who create frosty works of art for fancy functions, members of the gay homeless community who face economic and social obstacles,  the group of  20-somethings who have embraced communal living in an urban kibbutz. These stories, and more, reveal the complexity of life in New York.
