Digital Literacy Narrative

My past experiences as a writer may be limited compared to others in the class. Like many others in our class, I had to take ESL classes when I was younger in order to learn the English language since I did not grow up speaking this language. For those of you who do not know me, I am a Pakistani-American and I grew up speaking Urdu and Punjabi at home. However, through these special programs offered at my school. However, during my time in high school I excelled at analyzing different pieces of literature, discussing important themes, and writing papers about both the themes in literature and discussing everything from metaphors to similes. I believe that during my time in high school I was able to improve and expand my writing skills mostly due to my teachers who provided help in order to improve my writing. During my first few years in college, I was also able to improve my writing, first by taking an introduction to writing course which helped immensely with my future courses such as speech and history. I also have almost none to very little experience in writing and composing using digital technology. The only experience I have with using digital technology to write and compose is last semester when I took a online music history course in which we were required to make discussion posts about the material we read in class. Taking this course will be an excellent opportunity to become familiar with digital technology as technology becomes more and more important in our daily lives especially with the fact being that this is a hybrid course. Another interesting aspect about this course which I will look forward to is using the blog and becoming more familiar with. I transferred to Baruch from Hunter College and we did not use any type of blogs in order to do our work and this aspect of the course makes it more appealing and organized.
