Event attended at Baruch-Lambda Phi Epsilon

Lambda Phi Epsilon is a social fraternity used to meet more people and create a brotherhood. During the process of recruiting, they host many events. Some events that took place were “Ice-Cream”, “Mixer”, and “BBQ”. Any male may apply for this fraternity but there are requirements. You must attend one general interest meeting and a certain amount of events. There is an interview so the members of Lambda Phi Epsilon can decide if they want to recruit this individual.

Going to the event known as “Ice-Cream”, there was a new experience. There were males and females, all in a lecture room. This event went on during our Club Hours, where everyone has a break for two hours to do whatever they please. Since they were taking time out of our break, they supplied us with food, drinks, and etc. At first, there was an awkward silence due to the fact that everyone in the room never met or maybe seen each other before. Getting started, each one of us had to say our name and talk about something they like or like to do. Afterward, we were put into groups to socialize and learn about each other.

Another event was a BBQ with the brothers of Lambda Phi Epsilon. People who were there for recruitment didn’t have to pay to attend. They also provided food and drinks at this event. Afterward, they went to the park and played basketball. Everyone was very friendly and showed that they welcomed anyone having the intentions of joining. This event was a good way to meet new people and socialize with people you may never have otherwise met.

The general interest meeting was also a point where the brothers of Lambda Phi Epsilon introduced themselves. They told the audience that they were a brotherhood dedicated to Asian morals of respecting their elders. The older brothers were the first to eat just like the oldest male in the family is the first to eat at the table. Also, this brotherhood is a nation-wide fraternity and a few times a year, the fraternities at every school would get together and meet the people of the other schools. This is a way to create a link and connection. The people that crossed in the same semester usually have the most commonality and is able to relate to each other the most. The brotherhood also involves a “big brother” who looks out for the priorities of the “little brother” and try to help them out whenever they could.
