Hi all! Welcome to our class blog. I am hoping that the blog will be a fun, informal, and interesting space for us to share ideas, continue class conversations, and consider connections between the English and Japanese courses.
I’m also hoping we can use the blog to draw some connections between the classroom(s) and the “real world” — this can be a space for us to think about how class conversations and activities might relate to everyday life, popular culture, current events, things going on in and around the city, etc.
Feel free to post anything (within reason, of course) that seems relevant to our courses or to your own everyday lives as students, writers, language-learners, thinkers, and young people living and learning in New York. You might use the blog to continue with a conversation we had in class, to inform the rest of us about something you read, heard, or saw that might be of interest to the group, to ask questions or continue reflecting on things we’ve been learning or discussing, to share an interesting experience you had outside the classroom, etc. Don’t be shy.
Also, feel free to be fun and creative! Blogging allows us the freedom to incorporate images, photos, videos, music, etc into our classes a lot more easily than we could while sitting at our desks. Have a video, song, movie clip, or photo that you think relates to a discussion we had or to something we’re learning about? Upload it! That’s exactly what the blog is for.
Happy posting!
