Debates in Digital Humanities 2016: Making a Case for Black Digital Humanities” by Kim Gallon

Blog Post on Digital Humanities

To me black digital humanities is the study of the culture of black people including the way they speak, the music they make and their history. In the readings, it made a point that black people used social media so shed light on  racial inequality. In “Making a Case for the Black Digital Humanities” by Kim Gallon it states “Movements that protest the ongoing police brutality of black women and men, which began on “Black Twitter” and Facebook with hashtags such as #SayHerName, #BlackLivesMatter and #ICantBreathe, continue black people’s centuries- old endeavor to make their collective humanity apparent to the world.” This shows how African women and men used to social media to bring awareness to the racial injustice around the world.
