Bre’s Final Blog Site Proposal

My focus theme will be on Black excellence and worthy Black contributions to society. I am aiming to explain and demonstrate Black excellence and Black contributions to society how directly relates to Black humanity. The significance of my chosen theme is to emphasis the role lost Black Literature plays a role in recovering Black humanity. Black people were seen as nothing more than labor and property. Dispossession was unfairly thrown onto Black people predominately by the white community.  Harlem Renaissance literature serves as evidence of worthy Black contributions to society which are ignored and often misconstrued as if Black people are burdens. Decentralizing “hegemonic” (those who are in charge or in power) or authority/ whoever’s the most dominate group. This is an issue because they have power over information, power over what’s considered valuable information or valuable literature. Humanity seems to only exist for Black people on digital platforms through archives. Recovering past contributions of Black people, such as Black Literature, is important for reminding members of the white community that Black people are worthy beyond physical labors.

I will use Opportunity Mag, Black Digital Humanities & Fire!! I will use sources from the Newman Library’s Harlem Renaissance data base. My blog titles will be related to my previous ones such as, “Worthy Black Contributions” and “The Making of Black Excellence.” I hope my selected blog posts will show readers that Black literature not only exists but is as excellence as European literature. Black literature is necessary for the world to understand Black excellence from the people who can accurately write it; Black people themselves.
