"American People" New Museum Trip May 19 and Hot take · Extra Credit Opportunities (TLH and New Museum)

End of Semester Extra Credit Opportunities

There are a few extra credit opportunities available this week before the final is submitted next week

  • Be sure to fill out TLH survey sent to your emails to get the $100 participation award
  • As part of the TLH, I have one last task for you all that you can receive extra credit for
    • If you read 3 student blog posts for either the “Latinx Street Literature” class OR “Cultural Identity in American Literature” on the the Cuny Common Writing Across Communities Page, and link those comments to a 350 word blog post with the category “Reflecting on Writing Across Communities,” you may have either 2pt added to your final participation grade OR a 24 hour extension for the final (e.g. submission May 24).
    •  For the reflection, consider one or more of the following questions: What it means to read blogs in other disciplines? Limitations? Potential? What did you learn about the audience or what do you now value as someone who reads and writes blogs? What did your comments “bring to table” or how might they benefit peer authors given the knowledge you you have developed  in this class on archives, literature, and digital humanities?
    • The comments must be submitted on the linked sites above by May 20th at 5:00pm and the reflections on this class site by 10:00pm on May 20th.
  • Trip to the New Museum to see the “American People” Exhibit by Faith Ringgold on May 19th, 2022, at 12:50 pm. If you come to the museum (I will meet you there with a ticket), you will get 2pts added to the overall participation grade.
    • Go to the musuem
    • Create a one min video hot take–> upload to Youtube, create a link, and then embed in a post for our class website with the category “American People New Museum Trip May 19 and Hot take” . NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT USE THE CATEGORY, YOU RISK ME NOT SEEING YOUR SUBMISSION
    • It takes about 15-20 mins via transit from Baruch to get to the New Museum. The address is as follows: New Museum, 235 Bowery, New York, NY 10002
  • If everyone in the class fills out the class survey by the end of the day May 17th, everyone in the class will receive 1pt added to their participation grade. But everyone must do it. It takes about 5 mins
